Corey Floyd visiting Providence

This could further ignite the rivalry to places we haven’t seen since the Kris Dunn/Andre Drummond posse scuffle at Shrine in Foxwoods
And it was a Posse scuffle not a real issue between the two.

It's the same league so it does not appear that Floyd felt overmatched by BE level competition. next year's playing time can't be the issue because you'd be hard pressed to find a squad with more potential guard pt than we have next year.

Have to keep in mind this is a kid who graduated a full year early from high school to come to UConn. Maybe, just maybe, it was more beyond just basketball that lead to his transfer. Storrs is not for everyone after being there for an extended stay.
Very true!

That's a ridiculous take and is total sour grapes. You know the kid is good, he will earn plenty of time there.
The Friars currently have 6 scholarship guards on the roster. A commitment from Floyd would make 7 guards on scholarship with 1 open scholarship available.

It's not a question of him being good or not.

What we're saying is it's entirely evident he didn't leave here just because of playing time because if he goes to Providence he'll face entirely more competition for it.

Idc where these transfers go as long as Uconn is better then where our past recruits end up!

So are you saying the guards at PC are going to be better than the guards who will be on UConn's roster next year? Or just more of them at PC? Or both?

Even if there are more guards at PC, if Floyd is better than most of them then he'll play.

Do you think Cooley is promising him a starting job?

That’s not the point.

He’ll only know he’s better when he’s on the actual team and competing against those guys.

Why would you put yourself in a situation where you have to beat out several guys instead of just staying put if playing time was your ultimate concern?

There’s clearly something else at play here which is totally fine.

So a poster with one message brings a tweet from an account @noliarsgofriars with no following and this forum is going berserk. I'll wait until there is confirmation from a reliable source about CFJ going to PC before weighing in. Seems like a great troll job is made at the expense of The Boneyard!!

Could be. Call me naive but Cooley seems like a straight shooter so I don't believe he promises starting jobs.

Doesn't Cooley have to tell Floyd he's recruiting a lot of transfer guards just like Hurley told him the same? So why would the transfer guards PC already got not scare him off like the ones Hurley told him he was potentially getting? Seems to me something else besides playing time was the reason Floyd left.

FWIW my PC friend just told me he thinks Breed is gonna portal since he removed mention of PC from his social accounts. someone who cares more would have to confirm @FriarJ

if PC plays a 3 G lineup w/ Bynum, Carter, and Locke then floyd could get a lot of PT as the first G off the bench. that would make more sense.

Cooley was National Coach of the Year with a team that had several players graduate. Success has its appeal. We are still in the learning how to win category from head coach to tenth man. PC was at that stage a year or two ago.
