Duke is the perfect place for him. He’ll play iso ball. Never have to pass. Score 20+ ppg. Go out in Round of 32. Done by St. patty’s day.
The Duke he dreamed of play for, no longer exists. But he has always dreamed of playing for Duke! I thought he was smart. But he is just unoriginal.

Agree on all points. You are correct the only reason we are throwing any shade his way is because he did not pick us. Then your points about his playing skills and make up are all spot on. And because of that he would have fit better with our program. The problem with Duke moving forward as I see it, Scheyer is just not enough of an alpha leader to get all those 5* to play together. Even Coach K had his issues with that challenge. So that is going to create IMO unneeded pressures on CF for the one year he is there. Dook better hope he brings them another Chip because he is the only player I have seen recently that has enough of all the qualities you mention to help bring a team together when the coach is not capable of doing it. If Scheyer does not win with CF he will not be back, the boosters will circle the wagons. He could have honed his skills so much better playing in a culture that maximizes those skills. But of course everything about my analysis is biased and I get that reality.I know we want to crap all over him because he didn't commit here, but he's actually a team-first player. Much, much moreso than most top draft picks. His best qualities are defense and passing.
I don't agree with you on Duke. If they fire Scheyer because he ruins the program then they'll be able to get a really good coach and then they'll be back. Coach K isn't the only coach in the world who can win at Duke. As we've seen at UConn with Calhoun.Duke is just another program with K gone. Sure they are a good academic program and have a rich alumni base that can pay more than most in NIL, but so can Northwestern and Vandy and Stanford. Duke's "blue blood" status is going to fade quickly.
Another genius take by that guy"Duke's blue blood status is going to fade quickly". LOL
They have the financial flexibility to get rid of Scheyer without embarrassing antics AND turn around and pay a premium to hire another coach.I don't agree with you on Duke. If Cooper was sincere in his statements about UConn than I could see him change his mind and come here. If there is enough evidence that Scheyer is not a good coach Cooper may not want to play his one college year in a negative environment. From Duke's perspective - Best case scenario, they figure it out as the season goes on and Cooper joins a team with newly found championship aspirations next year
Worst case scenario, Duke stumbles through this season and Cooper gets a chance to be the hero that turns the ship around
I guarantee Cooper won't give his decision any second thoughts, even if Duke collapses and finishes .500
Or they can end up like Georgetown. It will be an interesting to see what happens to Nova and Duke in the future. Heck it will be interesting to see if Kentucky and UNC someday end up like Indiana and Missouri. The only constant we have in life is there is no constant.I don't agree with you on Duke. They’d have to pay Scheyer a lot of money they just gave him a big extension. Yea they could do it but that extension would look stupid. They wouldn’t fire him after this year with the class they have coming inThey have the financial flexibility to get rid of Scheyer without embarrassing antics AND turn around and pay a premium to hire another coach.
They’re not firing Scheyer with that recruiting class coming in next year. They have the financial flexibility to get rid of Scheyer without embarrassing antics AND turn around and pay a premium to hire another coach.
Could happen. You never know. But would you bet on any of that happening for an extended period of time like Indiana and Georgetown have gone through? I wouldn't.Or they can end up like Georgetown. The loss of Dick Vitale is a huge blow. Maybe more than the loss of K. Vitale used to turn every college basketball contest into a Duke infomercial even if it wasn't a Duke game. Vitale, and ESPN to a lesser extent, constantly raved about Coach K, Duke players and the Duke fans non-stop. He was a one man hype machine and he held the biggest megaphone in the sport. The Duke that Flagg dreamed about was a media creation that no longer exists.
Of course, there will be a drop off. How big a drop off remains to be seen.
