Congrats to Powerhouse Syracuse

Syracuse has 8 and Connecticut has 10. Both have the same amount of final four and title appearances.

Had to look it up. Wikipidia says you've been to 5 elite eights and 3 final fours only. lol. Only 3 elite 8's the last 20 years?

The Helms Foundation ones do not count. Stop it.

Syracuse fans only started giving a crap about those fake titles once they realized it would give them as many titles as UConn has. Trouble is, UConn's are legitimate.

Ok got it, you count uks titles from the 40s and 50s but not the elite 8s for cuse in the 60s....cool

Congrats on your elite 8 appearances back in the 60s when there were fewer teams in the tourney. :) Missed that. My bad

They finally got to the elite 8 in almost a decade. Come on, let them enjoy their 15 minutes of fame ... everybody's got to start somewhere

Did someone really try to downgrade a national championship based on who the opponent was in the championship game? Really? I mean, really? I think that should be some sort of messageboard foul.

I ducking hate Syracuse... nor do I think they stand a chance against OSU & Sullinger. Sorry Cuse.... no final 4 for you this year.

Interesting tactic. They are trying to legitimize their program by counting illegitimate titles.

Congrats again to national powerhouse Cuse for almost making the final four in nearly a decade. 3-1 for a very long time

I had a tough time with this one as I don't hate JB at all but for the most part their fans have been a**wipes for years regarding UConn and their place in college basketball history......I like fans like orangehomer who brings solid discussion and criticism to the plate but on their board the JC haters are ridiculous and not very intelligent for the most part. I am a Big East fan and Big Ten hater as well as a Thad Matta hater who suddenly gets whomever he wants in that program at a football school?

Having said that besides orangehomer and few others, I don't feel bad at all ofr Orange Nation actually have a little smile as they are thinking "How do we not make a FF with this team..." even with Fab not on the court........tough day for them, we know we've been there. But it's sweeter knowing all the excuses from the fn idiots over there on that board - for those I'm smiling today!!!!!

You and my wife should open a business proofreading restaurant menu's for inappropriate possessive's. Theres lot's of them.
Was the above error intentional?

SU has 1. Lost to Kentucky and Indiana, beat Kansas. UConn has 3 beating Duke, and powerhouses Georgia Tech and Butler. Syracuse also has 2 titles Pre-NCAA Tournament.
Your two Helms 'titles' were awarded (not won, awarded) at a time when similar titles for football were regularly awarded to Yale, Harvard and Princeton (each of those three has many).

In terms of historic relevancy and accuracy, as you are claiming the perspective should be that Cuse has three titles, two were merely a bit earlier than the the NCAA tourney (although one was awarded during WWI and the second before Herbert Hoover became president), as an overall national power, how would you compare Syracuse's football program to those of Yale, Harvard and Princeton?

Hmmmm, so maybe we can add a few shoulda-wouldas for UConn since you're beating your chest about the quality of your opponents? After all, UConn lost to UCLA, UNC, Duke, Maryland and those teams went on to win the national championships (3 of those games came down to the final seconds). Not to mention that UConn faced Duke and Kentucky in the semis of those tourneys against weak teams (plus, Georgia Tech had beaten UConn earlier in the year and they had future NBAers on that team).

1995: UCLA won the title
2002: Maryland won the title.
1990: Duke got killed in title.
1991: Duke won title (but UConn was an 11 seed...hardly NC material).
1998: UNC lost to Utah in Final Four.

I think a case can be made for UConn in 1995. They lost to UCLA in California in a close game. If they were in another region, they likely go to the Final Four. Edny was injured in the National Title game, and they still beat Arkansas--and he had the 30-foot heave against us at the end of the first half. They could have totally taken UCLA without Edny...

Yea, pretty stupid. Let's mention that UCONN lucked out in drawing GA. Tech in the final game, and ignore that they had to go through #1 Duke in the previous game.

Also, lets just complain about UCONN landing Butler in the ship game (the same Butler team which KO'd Cuse early in the previous tournament) and ignore that they had to beat UK in the de facto championship game two days before.

If I were them, the thought that their team didn't make the Final Four, but a UConn team with a transcendent player and, well, not much else won the previous NC, would really piss me off.

Looking at it that way zls...YEP they should be pissed!:)

I would be more pissed that their only National Title came because of a single transcendent player so they can't even try to cheapen ours from last year.

Quse has done squat in nearly ten years- take away the Melo year and they have done squat period.
I barley gave a about them in the BE and now that they are leaving I care even less.
They are going to stink it up in the ACC- they do not match up well with the style of play in that league and the refs are going to punish them compared to the BE. They are going to do nothing but go down hill from this point forward- but on the bright side since they never really got to the top of the hill anyway they do not have that far to fall.

Have fun in the off season with your pedi aftermath and we look forward to seeing what comes from ten years of your staff looking the other way while your players smoked weed before games. Too bad there is not a NC for coaching staffs with their head up their because they would have the lock on on that NC for the next few years solid.
