Commentary Thread for Premium Top-Shelf Tweets

I like that he thinks he is important enough that we would care if he blocks us. I was tempted to tweet the Bye Bye Bye video at him in response when I read that. It's perfect for Memphis as their current most well known modern day crooner sings lead.
Why didn't you??? I threw you an alley on a 7 foot rim.

This dude gave a good back and forth last week. Today he blocked me. That is weak sauce right there.
I haven't even engaged him (Rarely tweet anyhow.) and now I'm blocked. Same with the dude.

Legitimate sources of information look to gain readership. I'm at a loss as to what these bozos are trying to accomplish...and the Dude is looking to verify his account?

Listen carefully to McMurphy in this video [Mcpornstache speaks on CR]

He opines that expansion will be by two and that BYU, Cinci and Houston are the leaders based upon his conversations, but that "university presidents will be making the decision and they may think differently." That suggests that his "sources" do not have firsthand knowledge of the process or where things stand currently.

Good find. He did get the Memphis scoop and a few others, so he's got the tongue of somebody. Maybe an AD or two?

Based on his commentary at least one is a coach and he could just be basing that other public info, such as the informal "polling of coaches" that was publicly reported much earlier in the process.

Re: Bowlsby attending UH/OU game. Maybe he's assessing the turnout for Cougar fans in a virtual home game against a top 5 ranked team.

I think that it is a good thing for us, because I believe that Houston can only get the votes needed in a 4 team expansion.

I'm sure Houston fans think this means they're a shoe-in. If UConn was playing a Big12 team at a neutral site and Bowlsby showed up, what would the boneyard reaction be? (Not saying it means anything either way, just talking about the fans perspectives).

This is the biggest OOC game between ranked teams this weekend, so the biggest B12 game this weekend. It makes sense for him to be there for other reasons besides expansion.

Ran into David Boren at NRG Stadium. Asked if he had any expansion announcements for the Big 12, OU prez said: "I hope not. Not today."

Also ran into AAC commish Mike Aresco, who said he had dinner with B12 commish Bob Bowlsby last night. Those two may be joined at the hip.

I imagine Aresco is being kept somewhat abreast of where they are in the process and what the timing will be on the announcements so he can restore his conference (once this is done) in a reasonably smooth manner.

If that's true, a western only addition to the Big 12 is off the table.

The only version that works is BYU and CSU, which I think has more traction than it deserves. It is also a non-starter with OU so it won't happen. If UT would relent on UH, then UConn, UC, BYU, and CSU becomes viable. It maximizes their footprint without taking the 4th and 5th best teams in FL and doesn't overlap the Texas market. Let's be honest, if the B12 can't dominate the Houston market with the teams they have then they have bigger problems.

I think the idea of CSU calms some of the B12 North schools. They are culturally close and will still be in the B12 if the B12 does lose teams. UConn, UC, WVU, BYU, the FL schools, and UH would all leave the B12 if another P5 spot opened due to a complete reshuffle of a P4.

My guess is B12 is including the AAC targets on the list to soften the blow when the AAC has to back-fill (Colorado State and Rice are my guess).

It's the second one for Memphis. They thought they belonged in the Big East over USF during the 2005 expansion. Apparently they really thought the Big East was not going to want any part of Florida after having Miami for fifteen years. I still don't feel bad for them though. Arrogant bunch of clowns.

Not to mention losing to Charlotte and Jacksonville (that one must have really hurt) years back on NFL expansion.

LOL... Ya'll warned now ya hear.

I'm blocking any fans of BYU, UConn or any other school who wants to talk smack about Memphis. No more warnings. I've blocked dozens already

You batsards broke him... He went Full Dude.

Definitely helps legitimize Rice publicly. Also, having Rice and SMU included in the list is also leverage for UT to minimize UH, using those schools to get their campus in Houston.

This is some wild snow. People complain about Connecticut? I'd rather be here than in Texas!

They DO think they are a shoo-in. They think #11 and #12 would be them and Cincinnati.

Aresco has a cool job. He's a balance between the haves and the have-nots. Just not looking forward to corporate logos all over the place.

More plausible than some explanations I've heard.

Wouldn't be shoced if Bowlsby kept Aresco abreast of what's going on and also wouldn't be shocked if they decide to announce a Cincy-UH expansion within a few days on the heels of UH spanking OU on national TV. Would be fitting. (Yes I have lost all hope at this moment no matter what the sensible "logic" should be).

This first weekend of CFB for Big 12 hopefulls has broken my spirit. We looked like crap against flipping Maine and UH destroyed OU in front of Bowlsby
