What was the point of that?

You really think that's originating from here?

Come on.

I'm not saying its impossible that someone here is one of those people, but let's just say that if so, it's probably not someone with a lot of likes. It'd most likely be one of those people whining about "free speech" because someone else took them to task over their ill-formed opinion.

Not called for is it?

I wish them all well next year.

I understand the Oriakhis. Alex came here with great expectations, NBA expectations, and is now grasping at straws in hopes another situation will better showcase his talents. Obviously he's disappointed at the way things worked out. I wish him well. Jamal Coombs-McDaniel was in a similiar situation. Sometimes a change of scenery or the extra year of prep is the only option to get more notice.

i'd hope not. point is, there has been a ton of oriakhi bashing and for what? loyalty? did the coaching staff show that to him early on this season? i think we were all disappointed in alex's season this year. i think we all agree he went about this transfer process in the wrong way......but wouldnt you do the same thing? to bash him for leaving is misguided anger. read some of those twitter responses.......its simply crazy.

Yeah I remember when I was 14 too. These aren't fans, these are just hoodlums.

It's off topic, but you might have the best avatar-name combo that I have ever seen....ever....

This is why if I were a college/professional athlete, I wouldn't use twitter. Every ducking retard with an opinion is going to voice it.

Are you talking about Twitter or the Boneyard?

The way this went down and the constant antics of his dad invite harassment. I don't really give Alex a pass here. Players don't generally win national titles and then transfer a year later. People letting him have it on twitter are immature and obnoxious but they certainly shouldn't be surprising. We've got an immature player with an immature father spouting off and we've got immature fans making them pay. Goes with the territory.

The difference is the people on the boneyard get shouted down by the reasonable people, that doesn't happen on twitter. Also, you know, as an athlete I wouldn't be reading fan message boards either...

it's Twitter, people can post silly stuff like calling your coach a mamu. Of course some UConn fans are going to bash him, a few will pick him over Calhoun, most have moved on and most of them have wished him well.

as this board can prove, people tend to post more when they're angry

Guess you didn't see him throw the team under the bus on espn column. Sounds like he was the only hardworker

Obviously you never want to tell anyone that you hope they get hurt... but much of the criticism is certainly warranted. Oriakhi brought this upon himself when he decided to blast JC and piss and moan all year on public forums. If you can't take the heat........

Alex is a great kid (despite his idiot father), but his play -- both the physical and mental aspects -- has been absolutely worthy of criticism. Unfortunately, a lot of people have been conflating those basketball defects with personality defects.

A lack of toughness on the court doesn't mean he's a bad person. That sort of talk is ridiculous.

Those aren't just UConn fans, some of those scorned UK and UNC s. Every fan base has their jackasses.

I agree. Alex was a great player for most of 2011. Without him, we do not win any titles. When Drummond committed to Uconn his game was compromised. This is not a knock on Drummond but I have often wondered if Uconn would have had a better season without Drummond.

I prefer to remember the Oriakhi who committed to Uconn as a 14 year old kid and helped lead us to the NC. I hope he has a great year at Missouri.

You really have to reassess your life if you're sending tweets like that to a 21 year old.

I don't doubt that adding Drummond hurt Alex's game but as a team captain and the most senior member of the team, Alex should have handled the situation far differently than he did.

I also believe that if it weren't for his father, AO would still be a Husky. AO's decision on returning was going to be based more on whether AD did or did not come back than anything else. If his old man kept his mouth shut and allowed AO to wait for Andre to make a decision (all signs point to AD wanting to stay but being coaxed to leave), AO would have been announcing any day now that he decided not to transfer.
