I remain cautiously optimistic that Maya will be back on the court next summer, if only so that she can play in the 2020 Olympics.

Not a bad way to bring her her divinity to a world stage. ;)

Readers of this thread should be aware that the Storm v. Lynx game tonight (5/29) is on CBSSN at 8 PM Eastern time. Another chance to see how good Napheesa can be in the WNBA. She may be guarding KML. KML may be assigned to guard her -- good luck with that!

KLS is politely pointing out the direction to the basket.
I thought she was suggesting Phee go with a finger roll.

Pheesa continuing where she left off. 9 pts in Q1 3-4 shooting 1-1 from 3. 2-2 from FT line.

Lynx up 39-24 at half

Pheesa's 2Q no points but ramped up the defense and assists 3 Assists, 0 TO and a monster block on KML who is having a pretty bad game. 2TO off careless dribbling and no shots made. I hate to say it but Whitcomb should start over KML.

More under control, as good a shooter and better defense. Curious to see if she starts 2nd half.

Collier scoring the half time interview (taped).

Wouldn't make any difference, this is a bad Seattle team. This team has no point guard without Sue, it's too bad they didn't trade for Mo.

Very surprised by the terrible play of Seattle in general. Canada does not look anything like her opener. Lloyd doing next to nothing. Even Howard with a subpar game so far

On the annoying note, Collier picks up her 4th foul in this whistle happy game with 7+ minutes in Q3 and could nor score on a leak out layup although it was heavily challenged.

Well Mo isn't playing basketball now either, so I don't think that would have done much.

Seattle was good enough to beat Phoenix and Canada looked fine at point then. I think Minnesota is just good.

I think getting Alysha Clark back on the court will make a substantial difference. Smart, tough, good defender and shooter. They will make the playoff's, especially if Sue gets back.

Seattle just looks a little lost and disjointed, understandably so. No Stewie. No Sue. No Dan Hughes. Everyone on the roster is being asked to do a lot more. It'll take some bumps.

A Lexie Brown sighting... even if its just the back of her

I have become a Lynx fan because Odyssey is now there. So I have watched Pheesa play both of these games and I am not surprised, but damn she has been playing so well. Can't wait to see how she progresses throughout the season.

Napheesa is an amazing player. She isn't playing like a Rookie. I can't wait to watch her with Simone this season, and Simone and Maya next season. So far she is still unstoppable :).

Really good read on Collier & Shepard in the Athletic today. Here's a link in case some of you subscribe - The winning DNA of Lynx rookies Napheesa Collier and Jessica...

And here's a snippet from Cheryl Reeve:

Good read.
I'm not sure where to put this piece, which focuses primarily on Jessica Shepard and Coach Reeve. On one hand, this thread is rightly focused on Phee, but also is about the Lynx. In any case, this one shows how Shepard and Reeve really wanted Jess to end up with the Lynx. Some input from Jess' college coach.... ;)

Lynx rookie Jessica Shepard is a quick study

My favorite lines/insights from Coach Reeve:

- Reeve told Shepard about how good the WNBA was, how athletic, how fast. Shepard’s best chance was being in peak condition. “I can’t tell you how many times we’ve talked to players and given them information and it’s just not accepted,’’ Reeve said.

A mere months later Reeve turned the TV on to watch Notre Dame’s first game. She saw Shepard, 40 pounds lighter. She was shocked. She texted Shepard asking, “Where did the rest of you go?’’

- A point guard as a youth, Shepard has the knack, which can already be seen in her entry passes to Sylvia Fowles or a cutting Collier. “When you can put the ball in the hands of a post player to make decisions, to shoot, pass, drive, that’s utopia,’’ Reeve said.

Although it wasn't a great offensive game for Napheesa, she seemed to be everywhere. She had FOUR jump balls under the basket, all from her hustle. And, from her point of view, most importantly her team won.
