44-39 Sparks at the half

Reeve trusted Collier to play with two fouls with about 8 min left in the half, and has done well.

More than well. Collier and Shepard (and I suppose Brown) are keeping MN within distance. For a team spitting up the ball like a pinball, Collier's basketball IQ stands out. 0 TO shines out, most minutes on court, always handling the out of bounds play etc.

Some big momentum swings back and forth throughout this game.

For LA they should probably keep Williams on the floor the rest of the game because things go downhill fast when she's been off the floor.

Sims and Brown have to be pretty happy to be in Minnesota this year. Definitely a change of setting has done them both good.

edit--oh yeah, since this is a Collier thread, she's been impressive throughout the game on both ends of the court

I know this is a Collier thread, but nice to see Lexie Brown get minutes this year

I like her better at the point better than Robinson because she’s a threat from 3 and she makes better decisions.

Lynx Defense is horrible on Sparks 3 point Shooters. They're wide open.

Bad pass by Pheesa with good anticipation by Mabrey leading to a steal and layup +1. She is a pain.

Eh, she did her Arike impression with a missed free throw. And then promptly missed two 3s on the same possession.

Uh oh. Shepard's right knee injury on a non-contact play

Contact if you count landing her whole weight on one foot awkwardly. Does not look good. Needed to be helped off the court and could not put any pressure on it. :mad:Head bang

Missed that. Turned the channel.

Gray made shots down the stretch, but the difference maker was Riquna Williams off the bench with 25 points. She hit shots almost as well as she hit her ex-girlfriend.

Yeah I find it hard to root for her, but she had a really nice game.
Completely astounds me how the league and the media are giving her a total pass on aggravated assault and intimate partner violence. Sheryl Swoopes in the postgame only referred obliquely to the "off the court" issues

Just imagine the outcry if an NBA player faced similar charges.

Overall Lynx execution seems pretty haphazard atm, but Collier had a great game. Hope Jess Shep isn't badly injured, cause her chemistry with Collier is really fun to watch.

I definitely thought about that. So is the message we're sending "it's really bad if a man hits a woman but if a woman hits a woman it's no big deal?" The WNBA has had domestic violence situations before IIRC, I think there was something with 2 players who were briefly married to each other.

Here's an interesting article:
