2026 Recruiting: Colben Landrew Official Visit (10/3)

That seems about right. The kid is not only physically solid, but mentally and emotionally as well. Doesn't let things rattle him.

I watched the videos you posted of the Wheeler vs. Pacific Prep and Wheeler vs. Newton. In both games I kept thinking that I don't get it. Landrew looked winded and was removed several times missing significant minutes, was not assertive and did not seem to be a major part of the offense (until the end of the Newton game). Plus he missed his three point attempts. His defense however was above average and I thought that's the reason why we were recruiting him. I then watched the 3SSB Select vs. Eurocamp 1 game auror posted and I saw why he was offered. His offense in this game was a 180 from the first two games I watched.

Thought Tyrese was a good comp while watching that game but after watching the film of Jarron Cumberland I think that player is a better comp.

I really hope we can land him. He was a high caliber high school football player and the training required to reach that level had to be a detriment to his basketball development. He only stopped playing football at the start of his junior year. So we're watching a kid with only one year of dedicated basketball conditioning and coaching. He and County are both committed to defense and are system players. They would be an excellent class for next year.

The Newton game is the worst of the ones I've seen. Rebounded and passed well, but no assertiveness on offense. Makes me wonder if he was sick.

Could have swore I saw something about his ties to Miss, and 247 says Alabama native. Who knows.

Would be cool if this kid grew another inch and we could play him as a backup 4. He's certainly physical enough for it. Frame kinda like a shorter Stew in some ways.
Pretty sure he plays HS ball in the same conference that Castle did

Always glad to get the last visit
In interviews, it's best to be first or last. First because everyone else is compared to you, last because you are fresh in their memory and you just need to beat the first guy 😛

what's Louisville's wing situation looking like, is there a more immediate clear path to playing time on their side?

The biggest problem is they struck out on Stokes and now probably have rev share freed up to increase their bid on backup plans. No commitments in 2026 yet and their wings are seniors. Definitely good playing time available over there if they want to sell him on that.

For those that believed in the good vibes from Pearl Jam during the AK Watch...

And this one made frequent appearances when Christian played here.

Yup. woulda like a crystal ball by now tho. Didn’t they used to come shortly after a visit ended (certainly if a verbal was given)? Or Are the forecasters waiting until it’s a sure thing for the sake of their accuracy percentage

After the forecasters all got Toure to PC wrong I don’t take much from the Crystal balls anymore

I am finding it fascinating how UConn is allocating its resources. My feeling is if they value landrew at fair value, he will be a huskie. A kid with his ability doesn’t have nor should he take a huge discount but 100-200k more at Louisville shouldn’t matter either.
