No thanks. I don't want the chafing.Stick to Ruffballs

100% will NOT be a huskie.I am finding it fascinating how UConn is allocating its resources. My feeling is if they value landrew at fair value, he will be a huskie. A kid with his ability doesn’t have nor should he take a huge discount but 100-200k more at Louisville shouldn’t matter either.
If Ville opens it's wallet Arkansas Toure style and this is what's important to Landrew, then probably not coming our way. These top kids are gonna get distributed around more and more without big single school classes, as they all want PT & NIL. No one program can promise a lot of freshman PT or NIL.100% will NOT be a huskie.
😏
Fortunately for you, not a lot of Ruffballs go out.No thanks. I don't want the chafing.
If that’s what is important to Landrew, then he wasn’t meant for this program. If Ville opens it's wallet Arkansas Toure style and this is what's important to Landrew, then probably not coming our way. I continue to think Hurley may drop down the rankings a bit if he can't land these kids and go after 50+ types as a next step (like these twins someone sent over). He's got to build a new carryover nucleus for 27/28 and if he can't do it confidently with top 30 kids because of the going rate/PT, go find some unpolished potentials in the latter half of the top 100. Only half of 40-100 has committed, still plenty to go around.
Hurley has explicitly said we're not recruiting in the 50+ range outside of extreme situations because they are both good enough to think they deserve minutes as freshmen and not good enough to actually get minutes at UConn as freshmenIf Ville opens it's wallet Arkansas Toure style and this is what's important to Landrew, then probably not coming our way. I heard that. But if he wiffs on Landrew do you think opening up recruitment now on some other top 30 kid when they’re already 90% into their process is going to work?Hurley has explicitly said we're not recruiting in the 50+ range outside of extreme situations because they are both good enough to think they deserve minutes as freshmen and not good enough to actually get minutes at UConn as freshmen
No, we'd keep recruiting the other top 30 guys we've been watching and recruiting for months, Samuels and Mingo. And if we don't get them you use the transfer portal. You don't build continuity by taking players who will never see the court for you.I heard that. Coaches adjust. He’s clearly not scraping the NIL bag to get these kids and next year may not need much freshman PT. This class is also unique. Right now he needs some carryovers for 27-28.
They’ve already suddenly popped up with the Ratliff twins, which are 50+. Listen to the Hurley swame and stop being so rigid. It’s a fluid process.
Ok bud. Let’s watch. I’m keen on seeing how in touch you are.No, we'd keep recruiting the other top 30 guys we've been watching and recruiting for months, Samuels and Mingo. The Ratliff twins are barely even 50+ recruits either, and are in the midst of blowing up. It's pretty much universally agreed they're gonna shoot up the rankings in a few weeks. It may be a fluid process but you are so far out of touch with how modern recruiting and roster building works
I think you are correct that Landrew could be part of a package to backup Stewart, but if they miss on Landrew they will have to more directly look for an appropriate 4, likely overseas. That player would be intended to replace Stewart in the starting line-up for 27/28.Ok bud. Let’s watch. I’m keen on seeing how in touch you are.
Samuel and Mingo? A whole two options? One which would be gone in a year anyway. Neither of which we have demonstrated pole position traction with. For what seems like a smart guy, you lack some logic. 15 roster spots, we washed out on last years HS recruits and I’d say it’s pretty important that Hurley builds some core that he can roll into 27-28 beyond Reibe/Furphy/County. I doubt Hurley is going to want to fill out his whole roster in the portal.
Theo ratliff has done very well financially off the court. Might mean twins will look for best fit and not necessarily highest nil. Theo is also i high character guy so would assume boys are as wellNo, we'd keep recruiting the other top 30 guys we've been watching and recruiting for months, Samuels and Mingo. Is anyone coming in for a visit?Tomorrow and Friday look like nice Sunny days in Storrs.
It makes no sense to tske guys ranked 50-100 for development or roster filler. We’ll just recruit over them and they’ll portal out anyway. If we miss out on our main targets, I’m assuming we’ll try to jump in some others or just go portal crazy and try again next year.If Ville opens it's wallet Arkansas Toure style and this is what's important to Landrew, then probably not coming our way. Well that is fascinating. I wonder if that's the lesson they're taking from Nowell and Abraham.Hurley has explicitly said we're not recruiting in the 50+ range outside of extreme situations because they are both good enough to think they deserve minutes as freshmen and not good enough to actually get minutes at UConn as freshmen
The portal recruitment system is a year to year fluid process, and we see some wide variations in how top coaches are using it, even in our league. You have a Shaka, who is all HS recruit/retain/develop and then Pitino who doesn't waste his time at all in HS recruiting. It makes no sense to tske guys ranked 50-100 for development or roster filler. Great post. Incredible how much the program building/maintaining game has changed in the last 4 years or so. The fact that you have a "General Manager" position in all the top programs says it all.The portal recruitment system is a year to year fluid process, and we see some wide variations in how top coaches are using it, even in our league. My point has been that Hurley has buttered his bread with a core of retain and roll over. This year it's been stated over and over, with data (EMaya) to support, the importance of having X minutes of returning talent. Next year, if it holds as expected, we look really good and should be preseason top 5. The following (27-28), the cupboards look pretty bare as it would be Reibe/Furphy/County as of now. This HS recruitment cycle would be the one where you build the nucleus for that 27-28 season as incoming sophomores, so if it's only 2 recruits, it's not a lot. They of course, also have to stick, which is no guarantee.
If it's only 1, or 2, then this is going to be an interesting upcoming portal season because to have roll overs, Hurley would then likely be having to hit the portal for underclassmen willing to come off the bench next year, which is a weird type of recruitment. You'd think better to do that with HS kids this cycle. A lot of those gaps are because he had no retention at all in last years freshmen class, a first for him.
Shaka BTW, is going to have a year to watch. He's going to be a preseason bubble team and ranked around 40th. He will be starting 5 home grown kids, 4 of which are upperclassmen. Not a lot of star talent, but a lot of continuity. It'll be a true test of his system.
