You are correct in that they received severe punishment (justly deserved) but remember that it had nothing to do with the players in the program. It had to do with a sick, vicious human being who committed barbaric acts which could have been stopped much earlier by people who were not only in charge of the program but the school itself. Joe Paterno, who was the head coach, did not fail as a coach. He failed as a human being.Ask the Nittany Lions about that.
