Coach Shea Ralph leaves Bubble and returns home!

i hope every school needs to report all testing results...better yet I hope someone directly from the NCAA is monitoring on site all testing....I don’t trust the honor system.

Hmmmm, not great news. Am I concerned? A bit, but more concerned that I couldn’t get a vaccine appointment today down in NC. So I’m relaxing with some Miller Lite, wishing I had a couple large shots of vodka. Oh well.

I’m fortified by Nika’s comments on the “Twins video” - “We listen to Paige “.

I’m out, back to Poldark or online Trickster cards. Oley!

Lol no of course not.
NCAA does all testing.

Basketball and health-wise this is a semi-emergency. Losing the Maestro and Shea for at least some of the tournament is a huge issue. I have a crazy idea. We actually have 2 coaches on the team. As far a leadership and respect goes Evina Westbrook is a coach in uniform. I have watched all of her games at UConn and she has super-impressed me as a leader. From my far away end, she appears bright and super mature. There is no doubt that the kids respect and love her. Evina could be a key in assisting CD and Jamelle......am I nuts or making sense?? Paige is natural leader on the court and every fan knows that....only a freshman, but a rare one indeed....she is a key in getting the entire goal accomplished.
Our kids are not only great, but damn smart. CD is respected and I am very impressed by Jamelle who has head coaching experience. I think they will all hold the fort down until Mr. Auriemma and Shea return. Let's hope that this is the last bad straw and the team will make us all proud. Go girls!

Down to 2 coaches ... that's less than ideal.
One should be enough. I'm reminded of the Israeli rowing team that came to Harvard to learn how the sport should be conducted. After a few days of observation, the Israeli captain noted: "Oh, it's eight people rowing and only one person yelling."

Neat trick by Saylor to get tickets for her family. (Kidding of course) I bet the Caroline Ducharme , and AD families are also on the preferred list for UCONN tickets-they should be if they can get to SA, TX..

I'm surprised that no one has questioned the 4th Region name, the first three are pretty obvious but not the 4th, Mercado. My last trip to SA was a couple of years ago but the Mercado was a small nighttime area with a couple of really good Mexican restaurants and a small number of shops. If you can get there, I highly recommend an excellent restaurant, Las Margaritta (sp?) which was the better of the two restaurants, but both were very good. Great drinks and don't forget to get some pralines to go at your checkout. About 1-2 miles from the Alamodome.

In addition to the Alamo, itself, if you have a car, don't miss taking the Mission trail of 5, 1800s Missions. If you have more money than you will ever need then go to the bar at the top of the Hemisphere. Good view but really overpriced. Lot's of good restaurants on the Riverwalk itself. I just hope they aren't out to rip you off with so many visitors. UCONN fans might want to wait until after the losers in Rds 1 and 2 leave town to get shorter waits for most things, including dinner reservations.

What’s that have to do with Shea?

Do you think if they were worried about game 1 Shea would take off? Honestly! CD can roll out the balls and let the team decide who plays what position and win game 1. Game 2 she should make out the starting lineup and then check in for half time.

I should probably mention a little bit about my experience. I coached middle school kids in a rec league for 3 years and came very close to having a winning record. So, no worries if the whole coaching staff goes belly up.

Why any concern? Everyone knows Paige is the defacto coach. Ask Nika.

Out of curiosity, does the NCAA have a rule that requires a team to have a coach in order to play a game?

Best wishes to Shea and her family!
Why would Shay even go home after what happened to Geno this past week. It makes no sense to me. The whole team including staff should be in a bubble now until they play .

An 8/9 opponent is not a gimme.

First of her name is Shea and secondly , why would she stay in Texas? She can't stay in the bubble if there is the slightest chance she may have or get COVID. And it doesn't make sense to stay down there and try to isolate as she has no support system away from the team. Texas is abandoning masks and other COVID protocols. Staying down there is a bigger risk than coming home. When she gets the all clear then back she goes into the bubble.

Does UConn even make it to the starting line? With these cases popping up around the UConn atmosphere, at what point do they have to withdraw due to COVID cases?

Thus far it is "case", singular. Only Geno.

Right next to the Alamo is an old small hotel, the Menger. There is a small bar on the ground floor. in 1898, Teddy Roosevelt used this room as he began to organize the ROUGH RIDERS.
