I love seeing both players fighting for the ball then patting each other on the back when the whistle was blown.

Clingan reminds me of one of my favorite tennis players - "Gentleman" Tim Mayotte. A class act.
Easy for Donovan to be nice there since the NBA has an actual jump ball and the guy he was fighting for the ball with is a guard. I think we know who won the jump.

Clingan shoulda went 1. His injuries to start the year cost him millions imo.

remember how slow and clunky he looked beginning of last year ?

I was legit thinking he was certainly coming back after those Indiana and Texas games. But injuries are bitch. He is a star

I think he should have went 1 anyway. Portland would have taken him 1.

Like Those injuries cost him all american spots , dpoy awards , we were prob number one all year after beating Kansas with a healthy DC. His profile would of been so much higher.
Either way he is good , portland is a good team and city for him. Bet he spends most of his career there.

Him and Castle are going to be the top rookies this year imo. We had an embarrassment of riches lol
I really wonder if the Spurs would have taken Clingan at 8 (and kept the pick) if he had fallen to them. Having Cling Kong and Wemby on the floor at the same time.....sounds terrifying.

That's so interesting you would say that because Clingan is usually compared to Todd Martin.

If I had any idea who Todd Martin I'd/was there would be a chance I'd like your post.

I agree 100%. How they rate potential v what is staring them in the face is beyond me.

I am sure teams that chose players before him - well, there’s so tough conversations going on right now between owners and coaches - that’s for sure :)

He gobbles up so much interior space and allows his teammates to be aggressive on the perimeter defense on Edwards.

Donovan's block % right now is insane. 13.3%

For reference, here are the career block percentages of some of the all time greats:
Mutumbo 6.3%
Ratliff 7.2%
Bol 10.2%
Eaton 6.9%

Future DPOY and NBA Champion. It’s easy to win basketball games when you have a center that controls the paint like Don does.

Goodness. That is amazing. I think Portland should just ditch Ayton. A Clingan and Rob Williams tandem is stellar defensive anchors. Now, just got to fix the 1,2,3 positions.

I hate watching Scott and Anfrenee Simmons and Jermani grant play. They strike me as bad team 20-point scorers.

With a year or two to add lean muscle and improve his game fitness, Clingan will be a rich man’s version of Brook Lopez — better rebounder, shot-blocker and passer, similar offensive profile.

Those teams will be back in the lottery soon enough, where they will probably select more skinny Frenchmen in the first round.

You can never have enough skinny Frenchmen on your roster, in their opinions.
