True, and does MIT play ball?

Division 3, but plays Harvard each year. Gave them good games in 2017 and 2018 (2018-19 MIT Men's Basketball Schedule) but not this year (Men’s Basketball Ties Program Record in Opening Game Rout of MIT | Sports | The Harvard Crimson).

I doubt MIT will get into the Cliff sweepstakes. If he cares about engineering, Harvard can give him some challenging classes.

Why do I imagine Omie asking Squid about engineering going like this:

Omie: "so what kind of engineering classes do you offer here at UK?"
Squid: "sure sure, anything you need we've got here. I just had a kid fix my wifes car last week"

Or he'd tell the kid that he likes trains too

Depends on what type of engineering you want to study, if your staying until you graduate. Or maybe you are 27 and just thinking of your possibilities and being judged by cynical old men.
