When is Tyler betsy transferring in? Hope we still have space. He may need to be a walk onbragging about conference revenue splits is even lamer than bringing up academics in a sports debate (not that cincy fans would), but it's all they got i guess.
Would we rather be in the Big XII? Obviously. Did anything we did that lead to those six titles hold back the football team? Quite the contrary. One of the only reasons we were able to jump to FBS (D1A then) was the success of the hoops team. Football even did fairly well in a league every bit as good (probably better) as the Big XII.Delusional or right? The NEWBIE is all excited about getting $7 million/ team to play at 11 am online and Cincy is getting $40 million. You decide.
Well it's about sustainability. We can't do this much longer. Fishy keeps saying it and others as well. Enjoy the ride, sure. So when the Royals won a few years back I knew they'd soon suck. Because that's the deal. The Yankees don't have those problems. They have different problems, true.I really dont get the fans who care about how much money there schools gets in media revenue....How does that truly impact your life from a fan perspective?
I often wondered what it was like for fans at UCLA when the Bruins won all their titles, then I got a taste of it, first as native CT son, then as a UConn grad student, and now as an extremely proud alumnus. The school has done more with less compared to the "big time" sports schools. Yes at some point the school is going to need more money to compete, but 6 titles in 25 years, I wouldn't give that up just to have gotten $25 million a year back then.I feel bad for people who don’t understand how awesome it feels to win a championship…or 6
Please don't ever compare the Royals to Uconn basketball.Well it's about sustainability. We can't do this much longer. Fishy keeps saying it and others as well. Enjoy the ride, sure. UConn cannot participate, compete and win in men's college basketball indefinitely given the current revenue situation. I don't know how long we have. Five years? Ten?
Funny because just yesterday Nate Oats was crying that Bama has to pay football players too much. Maybe we wait a bit before we call it game over.Well it's about sustainability. Lol and a lot of schools who have "sustainability" are average in both basketball and football. Being a UConn fan has been significantly better than majority of P4 schools. 6 rings in 25 years. Only school who is touching that is Bama in football.Well it's about sustainability. We can't do this much longer. Fishy keeps saying it and others as well. Enjoy the ride, sure. Of course they care. When the Packers beat the Cowboys the folks in Green Bay find it sweet indeed. When a small market baseball team wins the WS, do any of their fans care that the Yankees make more money from their TV contract?

Well the truth is the whole thing is a house of cards. I think UConn is counting on that. I'm not calling it game over, or abandoning UConn @superjohn, merely reacting to the post that said they don't get why fans care about the revenue. I am pretty sure any fans who have a clue do care. Hurley brought us great seasons and bought us some time and prestige along with it. I still think we'll end up in a P conference.Funny because just yesterday Nate Oats was crying that Bama has to pay football players too much. Maybe we wait a bit before we call it game over.
I could see a UC fan writing this, but the ones I am around love Hurley. The Uconn love may be because I kept the receipts when I was the butt of jokes in the 2016-2018 years.
I will say that UC has continued to make tremendous progress as a university in terms of increasing enrollment and not being thought of as a commuter school. I think there is enough excitement for sports that the regular fans are at least keeping their backup Ohio state jerseys in their closets more often. The community around UC is becoming increasingly developed and so much better looking than when I was a student there. Fans actually tailgate a great deal for football compared to what it was 2 decades ago. The OP seems like an outlier for UC fans in my experience…. I could see a Xavier fan sharing it though as someone else said…. They can beat UC 30 years straight in basketball and win a natty but would still be second fiddle to UC in this city.
For those of us who actually want UConn to win, rather than air grievances and then disappear when we succeed, it's delusional.
The end goal of a program is to win titles. I'm a fan, not a frigging accountant.
Hey, leave accountants out of this
I believe you completely miss the point. For example I went to one Final Four and saw them win it all. One year I saw them win it all with my family, couldn't believe the success considerign we were nig fans starting in the Yanke COference Tony Hanson days. . Another year my brother was far away called me late talking through the morning, and earlier my uncle called me and spoke for a long time. These are things I wil remmeber all my life. IMO fans with a clue care about 'in the moment" when you can experience the event in which you witness your team seize the opportunity . That is sooo much more than "sustainability." IMO that witnessing your team seize the moment is the meaning of a fan.Well the truth is the whole thing is a house of cards. I think UConn is counting on that.
