Notre Dame of Fairfield was a state power back in the late 50's, 60's and 70's. Won a couple state championships IIRC, and was ranked almost every year from 1960 to about 1975. Times have changed.
They had a couple good years with Bevino, too, but they haven't been relevant for 15+ years now. Wouldn't be surprised to see them get better with the old St Joe's AD though

Part of it is declining enrollment, back during the glory years 60-75 they were
LL or L. Back in those days half the kids in Trumbull went there and a lot from the North and West ends of Bridgeport.

Masuk and Barlow with the double at Veterans Stadium New Britain. Would prefer 2 doubles on Sat and Sun but whatever. Looks like streaming options available for later.

All of them should be on the NFHS network. You need a subscription, though.

I had the sites pegged, but was hoping Ansonia/St Joe’s and Masuk/Hand we’re both at West Haven. That likely would have happened but West Haven is under construction and couldn’t accommodate the parking for two games. Darien/Greenwich at Boyle is a no brained after last year. Barlow/Killingly at Veterans makes sense, just not as the stand alone game.

It looks like they tried to accommodate the SWC fans by having both teams at Veterans. I guess that makes sense, but they should have flipped the games and Masuk/Hand at 3pm, in my opinion. At least give people a chance to see two marquee games. No disrespect but Barlow/Killingly is the least interesting game slated.

The Joel Barlow Falcons go for their first state title in football against Killingly. We've won titles in golf and soccer (and maybe other sports), but not football.

Not many people know about Region 9 and its two small towns (Redding and Easton). It's in the heart of Fairfield County and very rural. It was founded in 1959. Before that, the kids from Redding went to Danbury area schools and the kids from Easton went to Bridgeport area schools.

Famous past Redding residents:

Mark Twain
Leonard Bernstein (conductor)
Mary Travers (Peter, Paul, and Mary)
Christopher Walken
Meat Loaf
Daryl Hall (Hall and Oates)

If they had split up the games for Friday/Saturday they wouldn't have had this big of an issue. It never made any sense to me that most games are played Fridays at 7 and them the finals are all during the day.

“The Class S Championship between Ansonia and St. Joseph has been moved to Monday at a time to be determined. According to multiple sources with knowledge of the negotiations, Ansonia agreed to play the game Saturday, but St. Joseph declined, citing safety reasons, and asked CIAC for a postponement.”

St. Joe’s knew they weren’t winning this game running the ball in the snow. Ansonia’s built for it. I was leaning toward SJ winning before reading this. Now, I hope Ansonia smacks them around in ideal conditions for SJ’s passing game.

lol no. St. Joes has played plenty of state championship games in the snow. They threw the ball all over Brookfield in 2013 in worse conditions than what we'll be experiencing tomorrow

No disrespect, but that team has nothing to do with this team.....I know SJ is 2-1 in snow games. The loss to Hillhouse is the most recent, 34-14. Hillhouse pounded the ball down their throats. SJ struggles against the run. Ansonia struggles against the pass.

Abdul Basir was a threat at RB for that St Joe’s team. This team has not run the ball well all year against good defenses. They’ve passed teams to death.

....And if those conditions (as you said) were worse then what’s expected tomorrow, why’d they opt out if they’ve won in worse conditions. Simple, this team is built different and the 162lb RB (Jaden Shirden) isn’t winning the game carrying the ball 50-times. Dobbs can and if history is any indication he will if necessary.
