The entire column is just dumb. Dumb because here is a guy that has nothing to say but to bitch about complying with a very basic law. And along the way he says something really stupid. Give this guy a shovel, he can dig it deep.

I go to the health department in Middletown's town hall and learn that a copy of my birth certificate would cost me $20. A more cynical fellow would call this extortion. Worse, it’s cash only, meaning I had to hunt down an ATM.

Can you imagine the homicidal thoughts I had aimed at CIAC for scheduling this game at Coast Guard in the first place?
I schlepp back to the AAA office in Waterford, which can issue Real IDs. I learn there it would cost me $36 more. Hence, the total of $56 for among the most unneeded and redundant endeavors in American history. A Real ID? What, I got my original license from Amazon?

Wait. So he didn't have a Real ID, so wouldn't be able to fly (without issues), and is complaining about a law, especially at a gov't facility? Not really a genius, is he.

It's ridiculous they banned him for an exaggeration.

What's more more ridiculous is that this guy wasted an article (which got him suspended) because he's too cheap to spend $56 on a license that he needs if he ever wants to fly somewhere domestically (or else get fined).

Not entirely true. You can also use a passport in lieu of real id. But I agree the whole thing is silly.

I am guessing that the CIAC hasn't been happy with him for a while. He has been very critical of them in my limited experience. This gave the CIAC and excuse to stick it to him.

I know very little of the CIAC but am reasonably familiar with Massachusetts version, MIAA. They are a deplorable, highly insulated, group who care little about sports and relish the power they wield.

Maybe an overreaction but it still made me smile

In the worlds situation home and abroad that is a column and comment that can only be classified as dumb and dumber. I do not feel bad for him as someone with the power of the keyboard press or airwaves should know better. I also feel The Day should take the high road and suspend him for sometime or altogether. Not a good look for them.

Feel bad for the teams that did not get to play there. Got the chance to spend a few days there a few years back and got a tour of the campus with the lead facilities engineer. Witnessed the morning raising of the flag ceremonies, very moving.
Asked why so many windows were covered over from the inside. The vice president was arriving in a couple of days for the graduation.

Got to the location down by the football complex and still have it on my bucket list to see a game there. A most beautiful setting overlooking the Thames River. Real ID came out in 2011 in CT hard to believe so many have not got it done when renewing their drivers license. Simple and painless and obviously something anyone in media should have.

Really! Was funnier than I gave him credit for, over reaction much. Sources tell me the CIAC was worried someone might ask them to answer some of his legit questions.

What kind of a journalist doesn't have a passport or Real ID so he can follow a story more than a drive away? Not only was the story written like Grandpa Simpson yelling at the clouds, he should be embarrassed not to have one of those documents.

But, it does seem like someone at CIAC just wanted to poke him with the ban.

Unless you’re an idiot and can’t process context, it clearly is editorial hyperbole. This action infringes on the freedom press and first amendment. And, yes, the guy is a BC clown but that doesn’t justify this retaliation for calling out the CIAC.

I don't plan on ever getting a Real ID.

As for DiMauro he's always come across as a loser but the CIAC looks way worse than he does here, their actions are ridiculous.
