If you hesitate you lose. It’s probably 2/3rds mental.Andre is so in his head now that he takes the wrong shots. I wanted him to take more actually

Yes, he has to be looking to score instead of passing inside; his inside passes are often uncontrollable by the intended receiver.True. But every time he starts to drive he is always looking to pass. He is very passive on the offensive end.
So Jackson’s man was covering the other four guards all at once - wow.Yeah, bc Jackson’s defender was clogging the lanes. Tough to get open when there’s an extra defender playing a one man zone.
The Double Big would have changed everything today and opened things up for our guards.@Chief00 I’m not usually a Double Bigs guy, but the second half today screamed Double Bigs. Sanogo and Clingan were both playing with high energy and Sanogo was showcasing his perimeter game. Seemed like a great opportunity.
He didn’t have to, he just had to be in the open space. In the way, clogging the lane. It makes a difference. So Jackson’s man was covering the other four guards all at once - wow.
I will agree with you that Newton did Andre no favors by constantly deferring the ball on offense. Andre is at his best during the 2nd chance plays or scramble drills. So Jackson’s man was covering the other four guards all at once - wow.
Chief, one thing you fail to mention is that ill-advised 3 from Andre with a few minutes left. I know Alex should never have thrown that skip pass to Dre, but all Andre needed to do was shot fake and his man would have either jumped into him (he was running at Andre) or Andre would have had a clear baseline drive for a dunk. He just isn’t playing smart basketball.Just wanted to address Andre’s shooting. When they use his man to double, he should seldom be in the position to take bad shots. He controls where he is on the court and if he’s not comfortable shooting there, he should go where he is. Personally, I would like to see him on the baseline around the basket. Also, at the foul line but take a foul shot not a floater. He can make foul shots. Also he can shoot 3’s from two spots, so in the glow of the game he should do that.
If we had double bigs I would love to run him off that for drives.
When you have a guy that is no threat on offense it makes it inherently more difficult for others to get open shots. It clogs passing lanes and allows defenders to take more aggressive approach with the scorersAK/TN= 7 points.. Hawk=11 pts..Our shooters couldn't get themselves open..
I would take it a step further. If im coaching the other team I literally won’t guard him like at all. Just have play a 1 man zone at the free throw line and either double hawk off curls or double Sanogo, or clog Newton’s lane to drive. The problem is Andre's man gets to sag 20 feet off him and sit in the paint. That leaves no room for drives. If ANY team we play going forward doesn't sag off Jackson like Creighton did should fire their coaching staff.
We control where Andre plays. We need his offensive rebounding, so Ibwoukd play him on the baseline.I would take it a step further. If im coaching the other team I literally won’t guard him like at all. Chief has it right. It's easy to blame Jackson. But the stats are not lying. His shooting was as good or better than Alleyne, Newton, Hawk and Joey. While also grabbing good boards and being disruptive. He was NOT the reason we lost.Sorry Chief but your too much personally connected to AJ. Take your blinders off.
Partly because the refs were letting the D clutch and grab Hawkins, and partly because we almost never run plays for Karaban.AK/TN= 7 points.. Hawk=11 pts..Our shooters couldn't get themselves open..
I am not claiming he is the reason we lost. However, as I sound like a broken record, playing 5 on 4 is not a good recipe.Chief has it right. It's easy to blame Jackson. But the stats are not lying. And the good coaches are beginning to key in on this too. When Hurley gets in these tight games against good coaches, he just hasn’t proven he can break through.
Unfortunately, he also shot more often than any of those other guards, which should not happen. I do agree that he should be around the basket, especially if Sanogo is at the top of the circle. I'm amazed we were able to keep it close today.Andre shot better today than 3 of our guards.
Jackson 3-11
Newton 1-4
Joey C 0-2
Alleyne 1-6
And Hawkins shot a few % better at 3-13
The backcourt did not do their jobs.
You have lost all credibility! So Jackson’s man was covering the other four guards all at once - wow.
August. That is exactly what happens. Also, having a defensive player in the lane allows the defense to jump screens and sell out on the pick. You know you have help there.Lol no.
Alleyne not answer because of all intangibles you just mentioned plus the same 3 pt shooting %August. That is exactly what happens. Also, having a defensive player in the lane allows the defense to jump screens and sell out on the pick. You know you have help there.
I actually don’t think any of andre’s shots were poor shots. It just isn’t his game though, and ya gotta give credit to McDermott for exploiting Jackson’s weakness.
Hurley’s options are not great.
1. Bench Jackson and lose best defender, good rebounder , athleticism, speed and energy.
2. Okay Jackson for intangibles, but in half court go 4 on -5.
Neither are good options.
yes. That the issue tbh. I will say they wouldn’t play Alleyne the same way, however.Alleyne not answer because of all intangibles you just mentioned plus the same 3 pt shooting %
And against Seton Hall who can’t shoot outside it’s a no brainer to go 2 -3 zone (not that 1-3/1 crap) and go Double Big.@Chief00 I’m not usually a Double Bigs guy, but the second half today screamed Double Bigs. Sanogo and Clingan were both playing with high energy and Sanogo was showcasing his perimeter game. Seemed like a great opportunity.
Hawk and AK were probably being guarded by AJ's "defender". Lane was too clogged for Newtown to do what he'd been doing the last couple games but I still would've loved for him to drive more. More than half of Sanogo's points were from 3 because they left him alone out there while bunching everything up insideThis loss is not on Andre. We have no real PG. We held them to 0 field goals in the second half for almost 8 minutes straight! Andre does that. This is on our offense. The D was filthy today. Where was AK? Newton? Even Hawk played meh. Sanogo was the only one to show up.
