"It's like every coach's dream," Zion-Benton coach Tanya Johnson said of coaching Tuck. "The kid plays so hard; she was a monster on the boards. … Morgan was showing how athletic she is, how strong she is getting up and down the floor."

Some kids are more ready for college ball than others. Morgan is very ready.

I'm guessing that at some point Geno will rib her about the 4 OT loss to Whitney Young that likely cost Morgan a sweep of 4 state championships in 4 years. He'll tell her that Kelly didn't come up short. :)

Agree with the story and with Milford - Morgan impressed me greatly by how she gave as good as she got from Bre, with no letdowns. That's the mental side where she showed maturity. And unlike most other players even at the McD level, she comes equipped with an already well developed set of skills. Not as wildly athletic as Maya, but possibly in the same ballpark as far as focus and determination. That's high praise, needless to say.

Whatever the opposite of 'project' is, that's Morgan.

No doubt she should start along with Stewart and Jefferson. Geno should sit Faris and Doty. Keep Lewis on the bench.

:D

DD you're jumping the gun - 4/1 isn't til Sunday.......heh

The Bolingbrook team is one of the high schools that regularly pumps out kids that will play on in college. The coach is excellent and he prepares his players well. They didn't win all those state championships just due to Massengale and Morgan Tuck.

Anyone think she is really the #15 player in the country? We may have 3 #1s coming in.

Looking forward to the final HS rankings for 2012. I'm guessing she moves into the top ten.

I expect she moves up much higher in the TopTen than lower if not those ranking things just have not been paying attention this year.

I agree Ice. based on the skills competition and the 3 point contest, her game is much more complete than I imagined. And the McD's game? She was just outstanding and her game is more college ready than most recruits.

Top 5 is reasonable, but I'm just not seeing Glen, et al, moving her up that much.

Something I didn't realize about Morgan until I was looking up stuff the other day. As a Freshmen she was a Parade AA (3rd team - only FR), as a Soph she was 2nd team (her and Adams only Sophs). Her injury kept her from continuing up the ladder. However I expect her to be 1st team this year. She was on the trajectory, pre-injury to be the top player in the class. I think she is getting back there.

But when she comes back at Geno with the "Yeah, but I was on the only team that beat Kelly's team her senior year", what will Geno say then? :D

At one point she had, also, been ranked the #1 player in her recruiting before the injury. That is why I suggested we may have 3 #1s coming in since all 3 at one point or another by the various services were indeed ranked #1.

funny thing about all that - i'm not sure why the announcers at the McD AA game ONLY mentioned the HG rankings, but i'm guessing it's cuz HG is affiliated with ESPN and the game was on ESPN. anyhoo... Blue Star hasn't changed their rankings in a while and she has been #9 there for the past year and #8 per PBR. but she is #4 per ASGR and was #4 per Peach State before they merged with HG.

suffice to say i was more impressed with her than practically all the kids ranked ahead of her including Howard, Loyd, Graves, Adams, and even Alexis Jones. yeah i get Morgan plays a different position than them (except Graves who she's light years ahead of), but it wasn't just about her scoring. her defense on Bree was stellar all game. even tho her team lost, she was the best player on the floor (POG) IMHO.

I saw the bit about her winning the 3-pt contest, but I wasn't able to find any info on Morgan's performance in the skills challenge. Did one of the horde cover this in one of their write-ups?

I meant the skills competition in regards to the 3 point shooting. My bad. Sorry for the confusion.

Of course that is why.

Speaking of the Skills Competion, I was surprised Moriah didn't do better (assuming she participated). She did not make the final three. The winners were (1st) Jordan Jones (A&M), (2nd) Niya Johnson (Baylor) and (3rd) Alexis Jones (Duke). Jordan Jones also bested the score of the boy's winner, Tyler Lewis.

One bad pass (missing the tire) can put you out of the top 3. I'm sure she did fine.

There will be no updated ranking for Morgan's class. The final rankings come out in the fall of the players' senior year because almost all of the players sign their letter of intent in November, effectively ending the need for further updates.
