Charlie Cream's Latest Bracketology - UCONN # 3 Seed In Greenville # 2

If we are the worst 2 seed or the best 3 seed we would be in SC bracket. I'd like to be the best 2 seed so we can be with Stanford. I think we can beat them.

About 40 P-6 teams that are not Conference champions will be selected. A lot will make it that don’t have 20 wins and didn’t play a top 5 SOS. So, yeah. The deserve to be in the tournament.

Do they deserve to be seeded among the top half? THAT is the question?
 
UConn and Villanova will not be in the same bracket, Charlie will again be wrong on this one. I also believe that if Azzi plays in the BET and UConn wins it all, they will be at least a 2 seed.

Totally agree. People don’t realize that if UConn had both Paige and Azzi this season it may well have been a toss up as to who was “most valuable “ between those two.
 
Massey has Tennessee ranked 17th, so a 5th seed isn't unreasonable. I don't know that I agree with one of the factors teams are ranked by, which is strength of schedule. To me, strength of opponents defeated should be a more important factor. Tennessee has played 9 of the top 20 Massey teams, but has only beaten Colorado. But there's no way they could miss the NCAA tournament; they're 13-3 in a power conference.

I think general National perception (the jerks that talk NCAA seeds) forgot Azzi’s skill level. Those on this board remember her play earlier this season.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that she can be a superstar. If she’s comfortable then Geno will be coaching in the Naty final game (even if we are a 2 or 3 seed).

You know whats really funny about these polls. There are actually gurus who think that LSU with their weak schedule should be ranked ahead of UConn and some other teams. If thats the case then maybe some mid major should be ranked too. THink about that.
 
We have to wait on two things before we can say this team has a shot at the final four, completion of the BET & AZZi s return. The recent play of this team has not been great to say the least. Maybe they can find their mojo before the NCAA with the big break in between tourneys. We also await the much needed addition of AZZi if that happens soon.

They get in they get in. But still they should not be a 5 seed.

They should be ranked ahead of them. LSU has beaten every SEC team except SC and hasn't had one game where a lesser opponent has beaten them. No other school close to them can say that, right? You can't rank team based on what you think they are you have to evaluate them on what they actually did. LSU played a weaker schedule for sure, but what they did to those teams and all others was quite impressive.

Why is it "sad" that Tennessee gets in out of 68 teams?

Five seed? That means they are around the 20th ranked team. The NET algorithm has them ranked 15th. Do I think they deserve that? No. But the system is set up for the NET to rank teams not for individuals like me or you to interject our biased (yes I have them) opinion to downgrade them (though I think the committee should use NET Quad one wins minus losses to downgrade them to around the mid thirties)
 
How did Azzi play when they played SC? Fact is this team can reach the FF with or without Azzi but they need to bring their A game every night. They played great against better teams and I expect that to be the case in the tournament as well. Azzi coming back gives them a scorer who can bang with the defenders and still punish them and that might be needed to beat a few teams but the other 7 can get them deep in the dance.

One other thing. I don't think Geno is great a developing depth off his bench during the season but he is by far the best game planner in the NCAAW. His coaching is always worth a few points and this time of the year that is key to winning. I know I have been vocal on Geno but don't mistake that for me thinking he isn't the best in the business. This team will compete it's tail off and will be a tough out.

Tony, why do you pay attention to polls like AP and coaches poll? They are next to worthless. Massey as well. Charlie Creme too.

NET matters, though the last reveal by the committee makes me wonder how much. They departed too much from it. I guess you could call the committee "gurus" - so maybe you are right. Their discretion to deviate needs to be curtailed. Not eliminated but curtailed.

She did not play well. She, being inexperienced, was like a deer in the headlights defensively in the first match and was under the weather in the second match. I'm not saying that she can't play well against SCar - only that she didn't in her freshman season. As far as "banging with defenders" at the upper levels of the tourney, don't want to see that.

She was injured in the first match up though, only played 10 minutes and then was out for a good chunk of time with her foot.

If I remember correctly Azzi was sick in the National Championship game and was not as effective as she usually was. I don't think that it would have mattered much, but the game would most likely been a lot closer in the end.

I really dont pay attention to the polls I just posted this because so many fans are complaining about LSU and where teams are ranked. I thought this would open some eyes.

Gotta disagree a little. LSU has played a very weak schedule and the SEC is not as tuff as it has been in the past. My point is the polls are silly and I was using LSU as an example to those fans who were complaining about LSUs ranking and weak SOS.

Absolutely correct.

And... Tournament Time is a new season...it brings new energy, new excitement and new focus. I suspect the Team may have been a bit flat vs Xavier because of Xavier's record, the MOV in their 1st meeting, AND playing without Dorka. Then the recent game started out good, potentially further reinforcing in the team's minds that the game could be easy. But, Xavier did not roll over and absorbed the initial UConn wave, and fought back. The Huskies didn't get their "MOJO" back [regardless of how many Mike's Mangos I had]. But they played good enough for a win.

In the Tournaments I expect a renewed energy and focus. They know its Win to move on. They are dangerous when they keep their energy up and remain focused. Azzi returning (should it happen) makes them more dangerous...even if it's just the threat of her outside shots.

Let us not forget...a highly motivated UConn played highly competitive gave vs. South Carolina WITHOUT Azzi not too long ago and lost by only 4 points to the #1 Team in the country.

I believe in UCONN.
