Characters who straight up ruin every scene and bring nothing to a story line.

I'm watching Hill Street Blues on Hulu. Halfway through season 4.

Barbara Bosson's Fay Furillo ruins every episode and scene she is in. Her character does nothing for the show. In theory it brings more depth to Frank Furillo. Reality is they could write his character with her completely out of the show.
Maybe being married to Steven Bochco bought her some good will.

I loved MASH and still watch reruns with Larry Linville (Frank) but skip the reruns if it is David Ogden-Stiers (Charles). Despise is way too strong and Charles was OK but just really liked the Frank episodes 1000x more.....

Agent June Stahl from Sons of Anarchy.

Jessica Pearson, Suits

Shane Vendrell, The Shield.

Is this only for TV shows? If not, virtually every part played by Eric Roberts, specifically in The Specialist and Best of the Best II. The characters may have been okay if played by someone else, but he is such a horrible actor he brings them down about 5 notches.

I'm sure I'll be back for more.

Anna Gunn had two lousy characters. In BB her character was unsympathetic to the point that the audience actually disliked her. That was fine for a character like AJ Soprano, but I don't think it worked for her at all. That entire show was a collection of unlikable characters and I never cared about what happened to any of them (Mike is an exception, but Jesus did they have to lay on the cool with that guy). I just didn't like BB though, and everyone else loves it universally so the problem is probably with me.

In Deadwood, her character had nothing to do or say. Every time they moved away from Al/Cy/Jane/whoever over to her the show came to a screeching halt. THAT'S ENOUGH FUN FOR NOW, LET'S ALL SETTLE DOWN PLEASE.

Walter White's entire family. Wife, kid, in-laws. They don't need to been seen or heard from. Hank was borderline
For me it was Jesse, the first couple of seasons. The stupidity, why would you ever have him for a partner? I so wanted Walt to off him.

No doubt Major Burns MASH is way better than Charles MASH, but didya have to hate on the guy so soon after his demise?! I mean Col' Potter episodes are also worse than Blake.
Co-sign on Mrs. Furillo - it was purposefully and near comically whiny, but still ... oof.
I found Tina Yothers on Family Ties useless.
Any Cosby kid not named Theo or Lisa Bonet also useless.
In fact any baby appearing on a show very annoying (even the baby on Friday Night Lights).

If guest appearances count, I HATED 'Mork' on Happy Days, the show invented jumping the Shark of course (same season! - the writers were stoned!!) , but having an alien come down and freeze or reverse time was way stupider vs a leather jacket ski jump over a fenced in fish. I liked Mork N Mindy, but they never should have undermined the reality of Happy Days with Mork.

However, greatest guest appearance ever was Tom Hanks on aforementioned Family Ties. I remember dying when he drank a glass of vanilla extract. “It may not be Miller Time, but it is vanilla time!”

I suspect for fans of "Big Bang Theory," Sheldon Cooper is their favorite part of the show. However he's the reason I can't watch it. Otherwise it would be decent. He's so over the top annoying, I can only handle about 30 seconds of screen time for him. Worst character in television history that I can think of.

Kim Bauer (Elisha Cuthbert) on 24. Not even being super hot was able to make her scenes watchable. Also, Marco Polo from Marco Polo. Terrible actor and very unlikable.

Same with me. Watching the opening credits was always fraught with anticipation. Always hoping for Henry episodes; okay with Potter; groan if you see David Ogden-Stiers and debate if you can still watch; change channel immediately if no Gary Burghoff.

Good one, it never even crossed my mind for horribly un-watchable shows with ruinous characters.
I couldn't watch Will & Grace due to over the top high pitched lady (Megan Mullally who can be funny) and
#1 with a bullet are both characters on Mad About You which was nothing but a half hour of whining.
Almost ruins "Castaway" for me b/c I don't care about Kelly. Luckily he lives happily ever after without her.

I really liked the show Marco Polo, but the lead was brutal.

I don't mind the Charles character, but you're right that starting about then MASH starts to run out of steam. Beginning around the time of that Charles enters the show, the script writing for the show is in decline, and it gets worse as the seasons progress. By the time Radar leaves, I find MASH getting to be pretty unwatchable. The lines that the various characters have to say sound like they are written, not like anyone would actually say. Which is too bad, because before this decline, MASH was indeed a great show.

Hawkeye and Hot Lips got pretty terrible by then. Right on regarding the dialogue. Preachy and way over the top antiwar.

The show was always antiwar, but when the show was well written it was quite watchable. But the dialogue in the later years does become more preachy and incredibly obvious as they set up "straw man" situations. And like I said, nobody talks that way.

I like Ed Helms as an actor but his character “Andy” on The Office started off weak and only got worse as the show went on.

I never minded Anna Gunn in Breaking Bad but yea, her character was the worst in Deadwood.

Carl in TWD. Just so annoying, good riddance. Most would probably say Andrea but I disagree.

Shows because wife:

The entire casts of Girls, Glee, Desparate Housewives and The New Girl with absolute special mention reserved for Zoeey Deschanel’s “Jess”. Words cannot express my disdain sufficiently enough.

Great call on Tina Yothers. Useless.
Wasn't a big fan of Agent Stahl on SoA, but yes, her death made it worthwhile. I doubt Fay Furillo dies a fantastic death.

Andy was a dumb sitcom stereotype in a show of brilliant characters.

Oh man. I've been a big fan of Zooey Deschanel for years. Jess can definitely be too much sometimes. I find the rest of the cast very amusing. Ridiculously quirky of course, no real people behave like that, but it's just a silly sit com. I love the roommates and CeCe. A few of the seasons were sub par but then it bounced back IMO.

Finn Jones as the Iron Fist. Bad actor and terribly unlikable character. Came across as a pouty, whiny adolescent. Made the show tough to watch as you couldn't root for the hero.

I think the answer there was simple. A straight laced high school chemistry teacher needed him as a link to the underworld of meth....as stupid as he may have been.
