UCL and Europa group play gets going this week.... finally.

Top match is Barca v Juve.

Here's the UCL line up:
TUESDAY:
Benfica v CSKA Moscow
Man U v Basel
Bayern v Anderlecht
Celtic v PSG
Chelsea v Qarabag
Roma v Atletico
Barca v Juve
Olympiacos v Sporting CP

WEDNESDAY:
Liverpool v Sevilla
Maribor v Spartak Moscow
Feyenoord v Man City
Shaktar Donetsk v Napoli
Porto v Besiktas
RB Lepzig v Monaco
Real v APOEL Nicosia
Spurs v Dortmund

Arsenal hosts FC Kohn and Everton plays @ Atalanta in Europa League on Thursday.

At least most of Arsenal's games will be on TV.

Messi is unreal.

Atleti will have a tough time winning the contest without scoring goals

I hope Juve doesn't go through. I agree with Ray Hudson, Higuain is a choke.

2-1 Spurs early in the 2nd, all three goals in the first 15 minutes. Great game, Spurs lucky to be up 1 on a goal incorrectly called back for offisde......

make that 3-1 spurs, Kane with 2 goals

Liverpool seems to have 75% of the possession but they are only up 2-1 after missing a PK. That's so Liverpool. Sevilla's manager got tossed for being a schmuck.

Great first round of games.... tons of goals everywhere. Spurs got some help by 2 bad calls, but Vertonghen should not have gotten a red card.

Pulisic is really good.

Dortmund just barely missed on a couple of those crosses in the 1st half.

True, Spurs missed on several great opportunities 2nd half. It was a very entertaining game, and fortunately the good guys one.

Good showing for my Ukrainians yesterday. Yarmolenko scored a world class strike even though BVB lost, and Shakhtar knocked off heavily favored Napoli, albeit at home. I think they can defintely get out of that group, though it will be difficult. That's a very good assembly of teams, outside of Feyenoord

Arsenal - Cologne match delayed at least an hour due to crowd disturbance outside the stadium. Over 20,000 Cologne fans showed up at the stadium, most without tickets, and were apparently trying to force their way into the stadium.

Yea, screwed up my recording. Only got the first half DVR'd. Luckily it was on Watch ESPN, although in Spanish.

The Bundesliga is going to fall to 4th by the end of the season. Mark my words.

That's one thing Pulisic needs to improve on, his final ball. It's often too late, he overdribbles a lot and gets stuck in difficult situations.

Why do you say that?
Only Bayern is a sure thing for the knockout rounds in the CL, and it is very possible all three EL sides get bounced in the group stage. Italy and England look better so far.

If Dortmund can get their defenders healthy again they can still get through. England always blows it in the CL.

Both parts are true but most of the English teams have easy groups this year and there are five of them.

Unfortunately I think it's just a matter of time. The "50+1" rule shackles most of the Bundesliga because they don't have Russian, Qatari, or Saudi owners willing to cough up ridiculous money and don't get nearly what English clubs get from Sky.
For the record, I like the rule but it's almost as if Germany is the only country playing with a salary cap (unless you're Bayern, Dortmund, or Leipzig).
But it's not as if Mainz will ever get anywhere anyway, so it's not a big deal to me.

Real v BVB and Spurs v Apoel. 3 contenders fighting for 2 spots in group H. Big day - BVB need a win

Dortmund is off to great start in it's bid to qualify for the Europa League this winter.

Dortmund should have started the Golden Boy. Maybe they would take Sturridge and Firmino straight up for him.

Real got lucky with Ramos' handball no-call. Real definitely was the better team, but don't look as strong as they did last year. Tottenham may have a chance to win the group.

Atleti's turn tomorrow

Harry Kane is ridiculous. Spurs were lucky not to be down 2-1 at the half (one shot of the cross bar, and Lloris with an awful clearance attempt that ricochetted off his defended and just missed rolling into the goal), but they dominated the 2nd half and that was without Alli, Ericksen, and Vertonghen in the line up... now if they could just win league games at Wembley.
Sets up for a big home and home with Real over the next 2 matches.

Big matches today are Atletico v Chelsea today (too bad Diego Costa can't play for Atletico yet), and PSG v Bayern.

Yet neither are on FS1 or 2.

Lukaku and Martial are a dangerous duo for United. Up 3-0 over CSKA Moscow in less than 30 minutes. Lukaku with 2 goals, Martial w/ a goal and 2 assists.
