My only issue with the loss argument is that Alabama lost by two touchdowns to Florida State. That should be like two losses instead of one lol. But there are still games to play and a lot of these teams can play themselves out of it, so who knows what will happen.

The issue I have with ND is their schedule has been incredibly weak after their first two games. By far their two toughest games and they lost both of them. Yes they look good but what did we learn about them when they played Syracuse? ACC is incredibly mediocre conference this year.

I dont think UConn would get in even at 12-0. Indiana got crucified for getting in last year, only now, this year, are they legit.

College football hierarchy hates the one off team. If UConn went 12-0, I think to get into top 15 they would have to follow up with another 12-0 season to get there.

Does it come down to eye test, metrics, or strength of schedule? That one team has a better win than another…is that really what they should go off? Or should they make a judgment on who is the better team? I find the playoffs a weird combination of underachieving teams getting the benefit of the doubt while overachieving teams are pilloried.

Not that I am one to defend ND, but the A & M loss did really come down to them bobbling an extra point, and the winning TD coming on a play where ND absolutely deserved to get a holding call in their favor. They lost, but it wasn't that clean. I really just can't get past the FSU loss that Alabama had. I also really don't like the fact that Oklahoma got a win over Auburn where even the SEC had to come out and say the officials blew it. But anything goes when it comes to the SEC I suppose.

I would argue ND gets a lot of favor with the committee. There schedule has been kind of week after the 2nd loss.

Texas A&M has had an easier schedule than most. Best wins are over Notre Dame, then played two SEC schools (LSU, Missouri) who were ranked but ruined their seasons.

Texas might be able to beat them. Regardless, they will lose either this weekend or the following. Still make playoffs unfortunately.

That actually might be the best case for the ACC to get two teams in. If Miami makes the championship and wins, the ACC is a one-bid league. If Miami beats Pitt (especially if it does so handily) it's not inconceivable that with the right losses in front of them they move to #10. If they do that, then the ACC gets two bids; their lower ranked champion and Miami as the final at large.

Assume that Pitt will play the role of UConn for the ACC officials this weekend... wonder if they'll have another ref quit
 
SMU is favored by 13.5 at Cal. If they win that, they’re in the ACC Championship game, probably against UVA. SMU will be favored over UVA. Win both games and they’re in the CFP again.

I don't think so. 12-0 UCF was screwed a few years ago and that would have been a larger stink, by a lot than a hypothetical 12-0 UConn being left out.

If SMU pulls that off they would have made CFP two years in a row since joining ACC. FSU wishes they were that lucky. lol

I saw a report where the ref that quit returned, and is actually working that game lol. Not sure if is true though.

BYU is auto-in with win and out with loss
Don’t see Utah viable

Bama prob out with a loss and Van prob not a serious contender

That leaves 4 fighting for 1-3 spots
 
This is the Sec/Big invitational and they tend to invite themselves. Oklahoma Alabama and ND are in.

I don't think they will... I think if Notre Dame is getting pushed out it's for Texas' or Alabama's (if they lose the SEC title game and BYU somehow beats Texas Tech) benefit.

I can't imagine them leaving ND out, no matter what. If they weren't named Notre Dame I could definitely see it, but they just get treated differently.

BYU alone winning would make it crazy. Texas Tech wouldn't drop out, so which team would get the boot? And even if Alabama loses I feel like the committee wouldn't want to dump them. For some reason I feel like the committee would have no problem playing the "no coach" card against Ole Miss if it comes to it.

I guess you’d have to see that reflected in tomorrow’s standings, right? Can’t have ole miss 7 tomorrow and 11 next week

Bama wins and in, so think they’d just pick Notre Dame and pretend there was deep discussion about it

But having to potentially choose between bama and Notre dame? That’s what it’s all about
