CFP Rankings

If they cared about ND they would have. They don't care about protecting or even helping ND.

The talking heads are BS'ing you.
Or you could look at the evidence that every 11-1 team is ranked in the Top 25...including non P4 non conference champions lol

This is a blessing for ND fans. They weren't going anywhere but now they get to whine all winter.

Yeah because there’s so many great teams out there lol. 9th ranked team should be in a 12 team playoff I’m pretty sure, it’s not whining it’s a fact. But keep hating on the Irish you guys are cute!

People keep thinking this has anything to do with football.

The CFP is owned by the conferences. The SEC and B1G call the shots. The ACC and B12 go along for favored status in exchange for their votes. The G5 go along to keep the P4 from leaving and forming their own division.

They don't need ND and they don't fear the G5 getting up in arms because a second G5 team got pushed out.

This is old boy backroom politics, always has been. They might get a kick out of stiffing ND on a payout this year, or putting pressure on the ACC (the new sickly antelope). If the choice was Bama, Miami, and Texas under the same data set, JMU is getting shafted. Just the way it is. Enjoy it Dukes, cause it's never happening again.

That's is the format they agreed to. They were so adamant on staying independent that they accepted a format that would put them at a disadvantage against conference chamipions.

Next year, they got a new deal that they get a playoff bid if they are in the top 12. That should tell you that they know they duck*ed up themselves.

The only valid argument to support ND is questioning how they were ahead of Miami last week, but while neither team played, they ended up behind Miami.

I posted a couple times leading up to yesterday's games that I didn't believe the committee would select two G level schools but leave out the ACC. They were going to find a way to ensure each of the P-4 was represented somehow. Once Virginia lost, Miami became the only option that provided this outcome.

Miami did have very similar credentials. SOS was almost identical, same records, similar vs ranked and overall, and Miami beat them head to head. If comparing to Alabama, Bama has far better wins and a significantly better SOS.

The one argument I have is that as long as there are twelve spots, no conference should be able to get more than four (1/3 of the field) bids. Under that scenario ND would belong, but that is not the current rule.

I take it your a ND fan.

College football is a joke and Miami sucks

The ACC created this mess w/ their 8 game conference schedule in a 17 team league. The ACC tie breaker that put Duke on the conference championship game was a joke.

I imagine the leagues will switch to something like central massachusetts used to use for high school football. their system you got 10 points for a win and 2 bonus points for every one of your opponents wins if you won. In that sense its transparent. Don't know how that would reflect in the ACC this year

edit: and foot in mouth such a system would favor duke... man the acc sucks

Note Dame played a trash schedule and lost the two most significant games on their schedule.

JMU and Tulane would have same record playing ND's schedule.

Anyone suggesting ND was "deserving" based on the ir actual record is a clown.

And relative to Bama, ND comes up way short when it comes to beating any team of significance.

My answer is anyone who watched Notre Dame ranked in the top 10 for the last 5 weeks with Miami on the outside looking in each of those weeks, and thinks they suddenly deserved to jump ahead when neither team played is absolute idiot (dont like being called a clown for an opinion). Pretty simple take!!!m
There’s haters, which all of you are, and the ones who realize the committee decided to give the ACC a representative rather than taking the better team. Any other suggestion is wrong!

Who beat ND
Should have beaten them a lot worse than they did, but Cristobol did what he often does and just tried to milk the clock, and then had to scramble to actually win. If he had any foresight at all, he could have killed this discussion that night. He almost coached his team out of this thing by playing conservative until he realized he had no choice coming down the stretch of the season.

If comparing to Alabama, Bama has far better wins and a significantly better SOS.
They did? I count one additional top 25 wins and some comparable ones after that (Notre Dame actually beat some pretty good teams but didn't get credit for it because they beat them so bad). I'll grant you that beating teams like LSU, Auburn, and South Carolina is more impressive than beating Cuse, BC, and Stanford, but that's not the argument anyone is actually making. Otherwise, BYU would be in (they actually have a better strength of record than Bama).

Not that what we say on this message board actually matters, but the reactions to the Notre Dame snub perfectly illustrates why college sports has gotten away with screwing its fans for so long. People can't help themselves. They don't like Notre Dame, and as a result they can't bring themselves to call a spade a spade. The current landscape is one big carousel of schools getting screwed by the cartel; and it works because the fans would rather fight each other than work together to bring down the mon$ter.

Otherwise, BYU would be in (they actually have a better strength of record than.
Doesn’t Alabama have the best win of any program in college football this year? I could care less about them but arguing about SOS between them and ND is silly.

If first games of the season matter like NDs loss to Miami, how about that Bama loss to Florida State then? That’s turned out to be a horrible loss as they stunk. I mean there’s an argument for everyone no doubt but there is zero argument for how Miami jumped ND in this when neither team played and how Bama stood pat after they got handled easily. It’s a pitiful job by the committee that’s the only truth.

What ND win is within shouting distance of Bama beating Georgia at Georgia?

Bama also has three additional wins over ranked teams (Tennessee, Missouri, Vandy), ND has two (USC, Pitt) Both of ND's are ranked below any of Bama's top 25 wins.
