08 Celts are certainly better than the Spurs.

And most likely better than those lakers teams.

The '08 Celtics got taken 7 by the 37 win Hawks. Dominant regular season, dominant at times in the playoffs (especially in the finals), but that's tough to overlook.

I would put that Spurs team ahead of the Celtics, but using a 7-game sample size out of a 100+ game season doesn't make for a strong argument.

Part of me agrees, but it's still enough to give me pause, especially when a 45-win Cavs team with a negative point differential took them another 7 the next round. It's a 100 game sample, but all of those 100 games aren't created equal when discussing the merits of an all-time great team. 10 playoff losses is an a-ton for a title winning team.

I'm not going to argue, though, because I distinctly remember watching game six against LA thinking it was the greatest team I'd ever seen. Hyperbole, probably, but that's how I felt at the time. They really just flipped the switch game 3 @ Detroit and never looked back.

You can settle the argument on this site lets do a best of 7 series 2-3-2 format team with better record gets home court.

We can settle that argument right now on whatifsports.com, its fun to do these match ups anyways.

Rondo had a bad game too, you saw what Ray did in game 2 series isn't over yet. Remember Ray's performance agains the Bulls if not for him the Celtics go down against the number 8 seed.

The problem is unless you do like 1000 of these it's not all that useful.

That's what a lot o these analytics machine sites do. Runs tons of simulations.

It's how in the preseason awful teams win a title in some simulations lol.

I remember Ray Allen getting stuffed by Gasol on a critical layup that he half-assed. That probably cost the Celtics the gamed the championship. Allen played this game like he didn't care...and it looks like the Celtics never forgave him for his lack of fire in this game.

It's Boston. When in doubt screw the black guy. No shocker there .

I agree, his 4th cost the game, he was awful

Truth, Rondo, KG know that and want nothing to do with him and then he bailed and never even texted them on his exit

2000 Lakers went 67-15 and Shaq was absolutely insane that year. Averaged 29/13 3+ bpg, then upped that to 30/15 for the playoffs, then upped that to 38/17 in the finals.

Rondo is a please don't include him on the reason Ray Ray isn't a favorite amongst teammates.

To be fair, if NBA officials actually called games by the rule book, Shaq's team would basically never lose cause he'd be guarded by a guard by the 4th att.

That's why they'd be my pick for best team here. Prime Shaq was game breaking. Kind of insane that for as good as he was and winning 4 titles, his career is almost a disappointment because he didn't want to stay in shape and never seemed like he cared as much as he could have.

How about a series between the 2000 Lakers vs the 08 Celtics, Lakers get the home court.

I mean that's what happens in the NBA. Value entertainment more than the sport and completion itself. The stuff they let defenders do to Shaq just cause he was so much bigger than stronger was just wrong.

Yeah, it's crazy.

But Shaq was always a big kid at heart.

He really didn't take much too seriously...until you fouled him way too many times without a whistle. Like Brad Miller lol.
