It’s still discussion of UConn basketball
Two factors that are important to remember in hopes of a NCAA season starting next week and eventually finishing;

a) Smaller rosters than football. Less moving parts, less testing, smaller bubbles, more teams per bubble...
b) Easier scheduling than football. No problem having games back-to-back followed by six days off. Much easier to make adjustments when needed...

There will be roadblocks, but it will work. Yes, some teams have paused practices, but over 90% of teams are up and running.

11/27 Hartford at Connecticut 8pm CBSSN
This is good news, I was worried these games would be on My9, which I don't get anymore. I wonder if this has a connection to the FB deal.

Can we get Pete Gillen again do the game on CBSSN ? I always liked CBSSN during our AAC years - well, at least Gillen can be enthusiastic.

I don’t care how late they announce these games to be scheduled - You’re telling me the networks in Connecticut Wouldn’t jump at the chance to televise a UConn game instead of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Colorado State versus Wyoming college football ? give me a break. If you uconns playing , contracts will be broken and games will be televised. How great would uconn vs Central be the Wednesday before Thanksgiving night and then uconn vs Hartford the Friday after Thanksgiving at night ? that would be beautiful. Two nice warm up games sandwiched In between Thursday football - I know I’m reaching , but it’s been a hell of a year can I have something to look forward to? Lol

What about the CCSu game on the 25th ?

All of the Big East games listed below are confirmed. I see an opening at 8pm on FS1, with no game yet. Seems like a spot for UCONN game to me.

11/25 Oakland at Xavier 12pm FS1
11/25 Fairfield at Providence 2pm FS1
11/25 UMBC at Georgetown 4pm FS1
11/25 Western Michigan at Butler 6pm FS1
11/25 Villanova vs. Boston College 7pm ESPN
11/25 Creighton vs. South Dakota State 7pm ESPN2
11/25 St. Peter's at St. John's (NY) 7pm FS2
11/25 Arkansas Pine Bluff at Marquette 10pm FS1

I love these local games--I really hope they happen. Cupcake games against UMaine are totally meaningless, but it's really cool to see teams I've watched practice on the court in action. I've mentioned before on here that I'm consistently really, really impressed with the UHart and Yale programs. They can't recruit at our level, but they're as well coached as most any high-major D1 programs.

And UHart is doing it with WAY less resources than the high-major schools. Their "film sessions" are the players sitting in the bleachers with a projector like the one schools were using 20 years ago... but those players are totally bought in. UConn has a literal movie theatre with reclining seats, lol. They've got the two coaches that have been around forever, and I expect a pretty impressive mid-major level coaching tree.

I understand everyone has not seen my post in the past year. The Big East TV deal states that every game to be on TV. Fox Sports owns the rights to all the Big East home games. Fox Sports sells about 20+ games to CBS Sports. 20+ on CBSSN. 4 games on CBS. I believe it's a 2 school max on CBS Sports. So, you will find your teams homes games on FOX/FS1/FS2/CBS or CBSSN for it's men's games.

Fox Sports for men's basketball also has the rights 30+ Big Ten games. 22 Pac-12 games & 16-32 MWC games. So, FS1 has the space for it's Big East games.

Yeah strange they have nothing on fs1 in the 8-10 pm window. Maybe it’s soccer or formula 1 racing. Wonderful. Lol

The listing is just from each school that has put out it's times and networks. That slot should be for the UCONN game. Zap2it, list a spot for college hoops. If the game is not played, some other game will move in that slot. Easy to move games, with no fans.

I beliee Uhartd is supposed to be 8pm on Friday on CBS sports. They're supposed to play central on Wednesday, but I havent heard of a time for that one yet.
You're right. It's the Weds game I'm wondering about.

What are the chances if those first two games end up being played that they will be televised?
Hopefully 100%. Half of the UHart women’s team has/ had covid though. Hopefully the men are healthy so we can get a game in.

Any update on the television info for the 11/25 game?
Any info on whether the game is going to be played at all? It's still not on the schedule and we're only 4 days out.

There's not too much planning since there are no fans and no tickets. CCSU just needs to get on a bus for 30-45 minutes and UConn gets 3 refs and they play. Well I guess the television coverage needs coordination.

I just looked at the schedule and they still don't have the Legends Classic and the NC St. game on there either.

From the FS1 website for Wednesday the 25th:

AS we have seen, getting through December and January may be difficult for college basketball. But as others have noted, it will be easier with fewer kids on campus. And by February, the vaccine should start making a difference. By June life may be close to normal again, if we get a little more luck on vaccine production/distribution. They are talking about producing enough to vaccinate 20 million people a month by January. That would be enough for all the old folks by the end of February. So we will have a season

The problem is getting enough people to want to take the vaccine. Not everyone will be jumping to take it right away. I think a survey of frontline workers showed only 40 or 60% (can’t remember) would take it. Is that enough? I’m not sure. But it’s a start and better than no vaccine at all

FS1: Outside of CT, which is the best app laser-focused on solely enabling access to UConn games on FS1 or other Fox networks? With no youngins, Disney+ may not be a necessary alternative. Thanks in advance for helpful insights.

Sling is $30/month and gets you FS1 (but no FS2 in the off chance they do get pushed there later in the season). Going to be hard to beat that when Hulu is $55/month and YouTube TV is $65/month, although Hulu and YouTube TV will get you FS2. All three options should have FOX. Sling is the only one that does not have ESPN family of networks, which is the channel for the Bubbleville games.

A lot of those people aren't really going to have much of a choice. Having to take it to keep your employment should be a pretty good motivator.

I’m sure there will be a handful of games on FS2
Get Hulu or YoutubeTV

What king of rating do you guys think we'll get this season? Considering there will be no fans in the stands, I expect strong numbers throughout the season

I just got an email saying Hulu tv is going up next month. Can't remember the price... but might make me consider youtube tv going forward. We'll see
