I have no idea of the abilities of the two players you mention, I think you might benefit from looking at your views of those two players and what you have said from watching internet highlight videos of Chong. Looking through Baylor colored glasses?

There are other Baylor players for whom I have pointed out weaknesses, so it is not as if I can only say good things about Baylor players. May I assume that I have seen more footage of Chong than you have of the players that you have no idea of the abilities of? Seems that to comment on this subject you would like to know at least something about two players being discussed?

What are you assuming, I clearly stated I HAD NO IDEA etc.. You go to great lengths to comment and avoid looking at self. As two folks have said that leads one to see you as defensive about commentary that is different from your perceptions. Four years from now it will be interesting to look at the players development.

Roll back time.....in the summer, folks were hotly debating that Stewart would be STARTING, and that by the time a few months had passed, some of the upperclassmen would by superseded by the freshmen.

There were those of us who kept advising not to get too caught up in all of the hoopla, that it takes time to learn the UConn system, and experience (i.e. the upperclassmen) should not be taken for granted.

We said that UConn is a complex precision based team with a learning curve that can be pretty steep. How funny now to read that folks appear to be disappointed with the freshmen thus far, and how sad.

The freshmen are learning - Stewie appears to be gaining confidence in her game and as time goes by we will see better and better performances - that is, assuming she can throw off the double and triple teams that swamp her when she even looks at the ball.

Morgan Tuck - I am impressed by her - she has great moves and I know that all of a sudden those bunnies that she is missing now will start to hit, and the cheering will be deafening. UConn is an adjustment, and I have faith that she will click, especially now (hopefully) that her injury is healed, and she can get more practices in with the team.

And Moriah - my sister and I call her Mighty Mite - I think that she is terrific - fast, but in control more than some of our other speedy point guards, and is fearless in the paint, and not troubled by shooting the long jumpers either. I like what I see

and I am going to enjoy the rest of this year and the next three watching these three kick and take no prisoners.

And are they as good as or not as good as, etc etc the other freshmen across the nation? I don't care.

I am not the one who introduced the Chandler and Higgins comments into this thread. I was discussing how other freshmen around the country stack up against the UCONN freshman. So you can ask DD why this thread turned to Baylor instead of staying on the subject that HuskyNan and I were engaged in.

So, I brought up two players that you were WAY off on your analysis to give perspective on your accuracy when discussing players (i.e. Walker).

You are awfully sensative. We had a back and forth on those two players at the beginning of the year. And you were way off. We all have to live with our analysis when we make them public. I put myself out there all the time. And poor Tony has had to live with his 190-0 comment for years. You should take his lead and laugh it off.

Although Slaughter denied that til his death. He had also spiked a couple other players that year and the year before. May or may not have been because of color of Robinson's skin. More likely, as some players have said, Slaughter was just an old school, dirty player.

With all the wandering and an OP that I think was pretty misguided this actually was an enjoyable thread to read - some good points made and some nice analysis.
And I would agree that there are a number of freshman across the country that are contributing very well for their teams, and on a stats and playing time basis some of them are outplaying Uconn freshman not named BS. I do not find this surprising in any way. Except at the '4' position Uconn had a lot of talent coming back, and even at the '4' the cupboard was not bare with KS and Kelis Fisher both getting solid minutes there. It isn't too often that Uconn needs starter minutes out of their freshmen - it happened in CD/Tiff's freshman year and again in SD/BH's freshman year.
If incoming freshman are required to play starter minutes, the likelihood of a championship run is not very good. They may play extremely well but they remain freshman with gaps in their knowledge/experience. It can happen, but it requires a seriously talented team around them (or a DT.)
