Caroline In Charge - Video

Love everything about this. I always like "inside" looks at the players interaction with each other, but mostly, I love seeing Carol without earplugs, even at the Connecticut Sun game. It really seems as if she's close to being all the way back.

I’m so happy that Carol is feeling, and looking, great enough to possibly have a huge impact this upcoming season. She’s dealt with so much and truly deserves it all (plus more)!

Hoping I can watch her get back to her old self and give us plenty of buckets this year.

First of all, GREAT video.

Ayanna Patterson "Caroline Ducharme is the greatest person in the world"!!!! Did I hear that right? That's just so sweet and awesome to see/hear!

Caroline "Not a lot of programs have the opportunity like this where we get to go out and see kids we know or fans... we are lucky women's basketball is so prioritized here that people really care about our team and what we are doing so it's cool that we can get out into the community and make an impact."

Just wow! And watching her with the clipboard drawing up plays and explaining things to the newbies - does she want to be a coach someday? Pretty clear she'd be an amazing one...

I have posted before that Caroline has been cheated out of her best years at Uconn. Her freshman proved that she was going to be a difference maker .Without dwelling on the past, the videos I've been seeing is that Caroline IS BACK! I predict she will end up being a starter and with the other TOP FOUR leading this team of DESTINY to it's 13th NC. Caroline has been through a bad time and has come back strong. I love Caroline and pray that her injuries are a thing of the past and never to return. GO CAROLINE!!!! GO HUSKIES!!!!!

Agree, how can she not be a starter. She would work so well with KK and free up Azzi to just be as dynamic as she can be!

The Clipboard. UConn executes plays and that is how they win. One more thing. They execute plays that include everybody not just one or two people. Again T.E.A.M. Together Everyone Achieves More. UConn plays a team game and there is no "I" in team. Thats one of the reasons they have 12 NCs

O but there is an I in TEAM. It's just hidden.

There is a lot to be said about athletes at high levels that get injured and can't participate. At times, as with Caroline, they develop in different ways. Their character grows. They mature. They understand more fully the things they took for granted. We all watched Paige become an even greater person, a true role model, a generous star, and finally an NCAA championship player. From all the struggles, there emerged strength of purpose and an intestinal fortitude that was unstoppable. For Caroline, I see joy in playing, leadership, and a willingness to give. If she gets back to close to where she was, you will all be shocked. She will be the voice of this team with Azzi and she will start because she wants to and we will go far. Hoew far? Thaty's why we play the games, isn't it?

Very true about the character that is built and displayed in injury. It can be the silver lining of a very dark cloud.

I will be surprised if Carol starts, but also very pleased. And it will come with an important dividend. If she's on the court, she'll probably be the one giving instructions in the huddles. When she's off the floor, that duty will probably devolve to Azzi and Sarah, who are shaping up to be a goofy, fun duo.

On that note, you can see how much Sarah enjoys playing with talents on her level and coming to UConn has given her a veritable feast of superstars, players who understand the game and read the flow of action as well as she does. Paige was her partner last season, and I couldn't have imagined a better one for Sarah. Azzi will probably be her new partner this year, but if Carol can return fully to form, she'll be another one. And if she picks up the system quickly, Serah could be a third.

This is an excellent situation for Sarah, having mature superstars playing with her and shouldering much of the leadership burden for her. By the time she's a Junior, Sarah will have to be the primary leader of the team -- there will be no concealing that fact -- but getting a couple years to prepare for it will surely be very useful for her. I don't see her mentoring kids like Kelis this season, but that will come soon enough. There will be a tremendous supporting cast, of course, Jana Kayleigh KK and Ash, Blanca Kelis Morgan and Allie, in Sarah's junior season. But she's the one everyone will look to in huddles, the one who will get the bucket when needed, and make the surprising play that wakes the team up. She will put on Paige's cape that season.

But for now, Carol will be the one who sets the example and the standard alongside Azzi and Sarah.

nice video ... it's great to see caroline so happy and involved after all the down times.
i hope that folks don't get set on the idea that she'll be a starter and be the carol that we projected she could have been in her four years in storrs. that scenario got derailed by major physical (and no doubt emotional) trauma over several years.
carol herself says she had doubted she would ever recover from them ... that she feels she has is the triumph. being a starter or even being an important rotation player is secondary, at best. i even think getting on the floor in a mop-up role would be great and i believe would satisfy her ... she has learned that she is contributing in so many other way to uconn and its fans. she's an inspiration for many. so, just don't be bummed if she on the hardwood is not the carol you imagine she will be. that's not what is important about caroline.

Time can heal many things. So can the power of positive thinking. It doesn't take a mental giant to realize that it would be some kind of miracle for Caroline to actually play and contribute something meaningful at this level again. However, there are those on the BY who argued with me that Caroline would be a leader of this team (caution, I said "a", not "the"). Some are changing their tune, little by little, as time marches onward. I have predicted that if Caroline got back to 90% by at least mid-February, Geno would start her. He likes her, she has a special place in his heart. Much the same as he had/has for Caroline Doty. I prefer to root for Caroline to make it all the way back, rather than expressing doubt. Think about it.

By the way, I believe Geno has the beginning of those same type feelings toward Morgan. Time will tell.

Poised, confident, sophisticated
and we all remember what an outstanding competitor she was.
I so enjoyed this video.

But one moment gave me pause....
At the link up with Paige...
Paige immediately asked her..."how's your head"
And she replied..."better."

Which means to the rest of us, that she's not all the way back
Perhaps, never will.
Too bad.
