OT: Canelo vs Crawford ?

#1 P4P and a top 10 Boxer of all time.

Also probably a top-5 boxing win of all time. I underestimated the strategical smarts and Canelo’s lack of ability to dominate a ring. TBud is All-Time

Bud is the better boxer and its not all that close the issue was the size. Usually a guy moving up doesnt have the punch to keep the bigger guy from walking them down and they tend to tire out because of the added weight. Those things were not a problem for Bud and he pretty much dominated the fight. I had it 9 rounds to 3 for Crawford. He looked great as usual. There is talk of a rematch. My money this time around is on Bud to win even more convincingly.
Id personally rather see Bud either retire or drop down to 160lbs and try to become undisputed there to solidify his case as the GOAT in the history of the sport not just his era.

I had 8-4 but yeah similar thoughts. Bud is insane and skill wise is quite clear of Canelo. Not sure what his next move would be, might as well clear out 154 because he obviously can. As I said, this is arguably a top-5 boxing win of all time, and being a 3 division undisputed is such a great legacy. He has nothing left to prove really.

That was an insane display of boxing ability. Crawford made Canelo look like he wanted to give up because he was so frustrated that there was nothing he could do. The same Canelo who is not far removed from being p4p king and is normally a skilled defender and counterpuncher.

Would’ve been very interesting to see Bud fight Mayweather in their primes.

154 is a stacked division and Bud is not showing any signs of slowing down, but I agree he has nothing left to prove. Bud could retire right now as an all time great. He is the first fighter in history to be undisputed at three weight classes in the four belt era. More incredibly doing it at 140, 147, and 168. Truly an incredible career.

You did. Great job. I was worried that Canelo would be able to wear him down in the middle to late rounds. I am also always concerned about judges in Canelo fights ever since Adelaide Byrd robbed GGG in that first fight by seemingly filling out the scorecard before the fight even started. Really hate that GGG did not get to be undisputed at 160 which he deserved and should have been before retiring.

You were correct to worry about the judges cards going into the fight. GGG would have gotten the decision in the 1st fight had he unloaded a bit more on offense.

In general I expected Canelo to get more tired into the later rounds, and knew that Bud would outbox him. Bivol did it. Moving up and fighting a bigger guy would be a problem for 90% of other boxers. Usyk could do it, and had a feeling Bud had the ability.

Bud was dominant. He had more options. Canelo fights one way no matter what. Bud picked him apart and he never let Canelo fire off multiple effective combinations. He didn’t get trap in ropes or corner allowing Canelo to fire off combinations and dig to the body in combinations.

Canelo has essentially been retired since Bivol whooped on him. Ducked Benavidez to bring up Charlo 2 weight classes and fight other 168lbers that nobody wanted to see. Tried for another cherry pick bringing up Crawford 2-3 weight classes and it backfired on him. Hopefully this is the end of his chapter, he did the sport a disservice these past few years as the face of the sport. Props to Bud, it happened later in the fight and it wasn't as pronounced as it was early in the Spence fight but once Bud was moving Canelo in the clinch you could see Canelo was out of answers and it was funny to see how frustrated he was later in the fight with his reactions.

Great fight. I think. I was watching the prelims, fell asleep and woke up at the start of the 11th round. Watched two rounds, saw the decision and back to sleep.

I'll rewatch the full fight sometime later this week.

I saw that 2 of the judges had the scorecards tied until that last 2 rounds which Bud clearly won. Bud was right to to not take chances and decided to really take those rounds.
