So the inside scoop is there was only 1 seat left on the PJ for a handler, and they offered to buy the other handler a commercial plane ticket. They refused, claiming they needed to travel together. Ungrateful SOB's...
A while back (mid-2000s) I knew one of the folks who was the old Jonathan's handler, I think it was Jonathan XII. I do know they are under absurdly extreme rules in how they handle him. They do
not leave him unattended under any circumstances while in public or traveling and there must be two people with him almost every second from the minute he leaves the home he lives in to when he returns.
That home's location was also under complete secrecy. I went to it once when my friend dropped him off. They literally tried to convince me I had to stay by myself at a convenience store miles away while they finished the trip because I wasn't allowed to go. When that didn't fly because it was December and snowing, they drove a half an hour in circles to get there and I had to close my eyes when we turned onto the street so I wouldn't see the street sign.
Not one word of that is an exaggeration or false. I have no idea if these rules are placed by the university, the service fraternity who handled him, or someone else.
So it doesn't surprise me that they cannot travel with only one handler on the plane. What sucks is they couldn't find someone already on the plane willing to travel commercially so he could be on that flight.
