Can Anyone Help Jonathan Get to Houston?

Every person I know who has an RV brings their dog. Getting on an airplane would be a lot more stressful.

I agree Well over 500,000 dogs per year ride in a crate in Cargo too (including my 100 lb lab before passing), that question was asked in that twitter thread and the reply was kind of giving off a "4 seats on a private jet, or bust vibe" .

The other Final 4 mascots are an owl, an ibis & an aztec spirit warrior....so I think we easily win the mascot battle.

If i have to hear the joke one more time that.... "someone in the room is turning into an owl....."

"who?"

Get him a therapy dog vest and a first class ticket. Problem solved.
Folks play that card every day.. BTW..How much does he weigh?? Sometimes there is a weight limit for therapy dog admittance --Depending on the airline

That's fine. Cargo is fine too if one can't afford the charter. You put them in a Crate and give em a tranq, happens every day.

One of our dogs is an english bulldog and she's probably my prized possession - don't tell my kids - so I just couldn't do it. I don't know if it's a wive's tale or what but I've always heard that air pressure is even worse in cargo. The lab would be fine. Strap him to the wing Mitt Romney style.

If money is no object, I would think they could work something out with this outfit. The only fly to FL from Westchester, but they allow big dogs in cabin and do fly from FL to TX (although you can't book connections for some reason.)

What's the big deal with driving Jonathan down to Houston? It's a twenty-five hour trip. No biggie. I'll do it if the school pays for my gas, lodging and ticket(s) to the games. I'll leave tomorrow and I'll be there on Friday. I'm all in!!

I’ve flown them with our husky mix…easy peasy. They fly from westchester to Orlando and Orlando -Dallas. Just need to book sep tickets.

But as ADub posted above…I think it’s more about the kids wanting to fly private.

We put our dog in the back seat of our SUV for the trip to/from SRQ 2x per year. Not a big deal.

Honestly if the kids aren’t willing to road trip to Houston it says more about them.

I’m sure there are plenty of folks that would be happy to get a floor seat and free lodging to the FF and drive down with Jonathan.

I’m also guessing there are busses of band/cheer/support folks that would have room for a few more

This is a piss poor effort by Jonathan. Too good for a long car ride??

Somewhat related; I was also underwhelmed by our costumed mascot this year. Whoever is in the suit is way too low key- you're supposed to be irrationally fired up at all times!! Dance moves leaving a lot to be desired

Gas money hotel and tix and I will be happy to drive him an and his handlers.

Drop the hotel and gas money.

Just good tix.

Actually, if I could be posting the trip on the BY that’s enough. Just need Jonathan to sign the waiver.

Since I work in PR, I think there is a major PR opportunity here if an airline comes to the rescue and gets him down there. I'm going to start emailing the executives of the major airlines and see what can be done.
If only UConn had a preferred relationship with one. Hmmm. @avelo

No but they allow them in Cargo. over a 1/2 million dogs ride in Cargo every year.
dog what GIF by TikTok

Cargo?!

So the inside scoop is there was only 1 seat left on the PJ for a handler, and they offered to buy the other handler a commercial plane ticket. They refused, claiming they needed to travel together. Ungrateful SOB's...
A while back (mid-2000s) I knew one of the folks who was the old Jonathan's handler, I think it was Jonathan XII. I do know they are under absurdly extreme rules in how they handle him. They do not leave him unattended under any circumstances while in public or traveling and there must be two people with him almost every second from the minute he leaves the home he lives in to when he returns.

That home's location was also under complete secrecy. I went to it once when my friend dropped him off. They literally tried to convince me I had to stay by myself at a convenience store miles away while they finished the trip because I wasn't allowed to go. When that didn't fly because it was December and snowing, they drove a half an hour in circles to get there and I had to close my eyes when we turned onto the street so I wouldn't see the street sign.

Not one word of that is an exaggeration or false. I have no idea if these rules are placed by the university, the service fraternity who handled him, or someone else.

So it doesn't surprise me that they cannot travel with only one handler on the plane. What sucks is they couldn't find someone already on the plane willing to travel commercially so he could be on that flight.

Nice guy. You should have put yourself in the crate in cargo and give the dog your seat. Nobody would have noticed the difference and I'm sure the person sitting next to the dog would have preferred it if they saw the alternative.

That would have been the noble way! Plus you would have gotten drugs.

Can’t get our beloved mascot to the Final Four, team staying in probably the second worst hotel on the Vegas strip. What’s going on here?
I have no clue how true this is, but I have a co-worker that went to a tournament game this year through his friend - and his friend was a guest of this particular team. This was also in Albany.

He told me that the NCAA takes care of the hotel bookings ahead of time, and the higher the seed, the better hotel you get.

Again, not sure regarding how true this is, but thought it was interesting. You’d have to think that the NCAA is booking blocks a year ahead, at least.

Some madman on this lunatic website is going to kidnap Jonathan.
