Maybe the players read that Geno might have said something about retiring to Boston so they laid off the gas in tonights game..... Maybe we should check with the people on here that know everything. So tell us oh wise ones who had so much to say about Boston not coming.;... what happened tonight?>

Hope you are right. I admit to a prejudice against players from Ossining HS becoming great. Soniya was world class in HS and not much of anything at UCONN until her senior year. At which point, with a great bunch of teammates, she was better than usual. Good enough, actually, to make a WNBA team. The Espinoza woman also had Ossining HS connections, and she bolted to Mississippi (?). So I am better off expecting little and being pleasantly surprised.I think you guys struck gold with sleeper Aubrey Griffin. If Geno let’s her play and make some mistakes she’ll be awesome by middle of her soph year. One thing that is not good for UConn among players is if his tight 6 to 7 player rotation continues. Spread some minutes around more often. His rant last year about his bench was bad optics despite being true. Geno will always keep it real though ...always.
Back to Griffin. Her ranking mirrors Nurse who played like a top 10 player.
So where is the proof he said anything of the sort. I mean if we are going to make up stuff why stop with Geno's retirement. I mean after all it is a fan discussion board... why talk about actual real things connected to the game and the team. Why not make stuff up.....
How nice it is that Geno is golfing in Florida... Or maybe he is moving back to Italy to run for President..
.I would offer a revision to your comment- “intelligent debate with logically thought facts to support your theory in a positive manner” vs. some of the denigration that has cropped up recently. Some of you people need to learn how to debate a topic without getting nasty because someone chooses a viewpoint you don’t like. Debate is what makes the site fun.
We can follow @CajunHusky lead and dialogue about this or we can continue to sharpen sticks before going blind or being shut down by the mods.I believe the prospect of Geno and Chris Dailey retiring in the near future and Marissa M leaving for Boston may be something that figures in to the top recruits decisions.
I think Shea and Marisa and Chris Dailey did the lion's share (grunt work) of the recruiting. I think Geno's role has devolved over the years to evaluating recruits then a limited active recruitment, the offer, and then the "closing".For what its worth. I would like to believe that Shea will take over. I think she will be a very successful recruiter.

I think AEH played one year at Ossining and two or three years at Blair.is there something in the water in Ossining? Every kid is different, I simply don't see how a recruit's location or high school program will make or break their career..do you think Geo and Co could have faulty judgement about Ossining players three straight times?

You are correct they did win. Of course after the game Geno addressed his players and told them he was not retiring or going anywhere contrary to what people on the Boneyard have been saying, via the Boston thread. Knowing their coach was not going anywhere helped them come out and beat Purdue in traditional UCONN fashion. See how dangerous it is to speculate? They won.

Not much middle ground, I fear. If we get no one else from the 2019 recruiting class, the table will start to tilt down for UCONN. It is possible that next year Dangerfield will be first team AA, that Meg, Williams and ONO will be trending toward becoming dominating players, and it remains a mystery as to who will be players 5, 6 and & 7? The Ossining freshman is clearly not of the same caliber as Meg, Williams or ONO and, therefore, likely will not even start. So who does? Now for the morality play; I think we miss out when we project the future. There are no guarantees about anything. We have a fun team to watch this year, and UCONN has enough talent to upset the world. Next year will be harder if no one comes to UCONN. But let's wait and see. We have no choice, after all.Is there room for a middle ground between the sky falling and everything being great? I'm excited about this team, they are a lot of fun to watch. Although the lack of size and ND's loaded roster keeps them from being an NC favorite, they're definitely a contender.
But I would be shocked if next year isn't a big step back. I don't see how any combination of recruits yet to be landed and player development will come close to replacing KLS and Napheesa. Then next year's recruiting will be an enormous key to the future of the program. I'm as enamored of Geno's coaching ability as anyone, but no one can win without talent.
"The Ossining freshman is clearly not of the same caliber as Meg, Williams, or ONO and therefore likely will not even start." Are you sure of this? I think you may be sleeping on Aubrey just a bit. If we get no one else for 2019 I don't see who on the current UCONN roster would keep her from starting at SF.Not much middle ground, I fear. Under that scenario the glass will be half full, not empty. There will be nothing sad about UCONN rolling out ONO, Megan, CW, Crystal & Aubrey as the starting 5. No need to compare it to other years just next year and only 1 team ( Baylor) could roll out a better starting 5 IMO.I hope that isn't the case.......that would be a sad state of affairs compared to recent years......
Geez, the girl is still in high school and you’re already deciding what kind of college player she’ll be.Not much middle ground, I fear.
