Read Upstater's posts, and don't try and mimmick Coach Calhoun with the "get some facts" attack mushroom cap. Those jobs still have to be posted and a search has to be conducted, even if a coach has been named coach in waiting.

Your point wasn't that they had to have interviews, but the fact that they can't legally name a successor or coach in waiting before they had a full search. You called everyone stupid and flexed your muscles on an internet message board for thinking otherwise. This is completely wrong. Many BY posters will provide certain answers to all of these as if they know, while of course they usually don't. It could look like this.

If not Ollie then who? A guy I know says he talked to ______ and it's all but certain that ____ will be the coach.

Will Manuel take full control? Definitely. He's out to make a name/No way. He's Calhoun's puppet

First of all, people on this board are idiots.
Secondly, I threw out another example of a public school (Maryland) that had a coach in waiting situation. The fact is, and Upstater has said this, that by publicizing a move like this you can leave yourself open to suit, it just depends on whether someone would want to commit career suicide by filing suit over something like that.

Never said "legally name a successor or coach". Pretty sure I didn't say the words legal or illegal once, might be mistaken though. All jobs at a public institution need to have a posting and interview process. That is a fact. The only egg on my face is from my bagel sandwich this morning.

The same as posters all over the USA are saying the next UConn coach is Kevin Ollie. But the AD doesn't come out and announce that. We're talking about Manuel here, not the inside word which, as we've seen several posters mention, comes from hearing Calhoun and others tell recruits that Ollie is the next coach. That's why I asked if this were all unofficial.

I sure hope you are correct in your prognostications...I agree with you on Ollie and I was pretty surprised on SNY. So I hope you are right on the other...

Best possible outcome here is Calhoun steers the team through next season and through the end of the season. As soon as VCU is eliminated, Uconn announces Shaka will take over as head coach immediately, and names Ollie Associate Head Coach (and, obviously, head of recruiting) Meanwhile JC stays on as an "Advisor" to the program and is a constant presence at the Universoity, around the players, and with donors and recruits.

Dream team. Every recruit and their mother will want in on that parade.
