2026 Recruiting: Caden Pierce (Transfer) potential interest

Crazy how Pierce is visiting five teams within the the top-10 KenPom rankings.

A great man named @husky429 once said about the quality of a recruit: follow the offers.

I dno, I trust the BY posters here that have never watched him play but see his stats and Ivy experience and figure he’s not ready for a step up.

I think people see the junior year stats and get concerned. But they're just missing context. As a sophomore, he was legit. And he's getting a full season to hone his skills. 17/9/3 are solid numbers in the Ivy.

Shonn Miller averaged 17/9/1 before he came here and was an integral part of that season.

chief wont be happy as Pierce isnt a "muscle power forward"

Comment notwithstanding, we are losing AK and Tarris from our front line. They are likely to be replaced with Reibe, who is an okay rebounder and not super athletic, and potentially this kid, who is also not very athletic. I'd love to see us get bigger and more athletic up front. We were destroyed by 'Zona (without Tarris) and Florida (with Tarris) on the boards. We were basically even with Texas and BYU, and I'm actually surprised to see we outrebounded Kansas and Illinois, although that's more due to their respective offensive ineptitude. The point is, I'd really love to see us get more athletic up front. We seem to always be the less athletic team. It's something Hurley talked about going into the offseason, and it really hasn't changed all that much.

He kind of is though. He's built thick. He's kind of more of a muscle small forward who plays power forward, though.
fine with me but im pretty sure chief is referring to guys like josh boone and jeff adrien

And Danny Wolf transferred from Yale to Michigan and became a first round draft pick. Shonn Miller went from Cornell to UConn with no drop off, same with Malik Mack from Harvard to Georgetown.
Add RJ Cole

Well Pierce can't really shoot, he rebounds like a center, and he's built thick. He'll probably be happy.

The list of suitors makes me think he’s legit. But Timberlake had a pretty elite group too…

I think he's more wing than power forward but can play both at the college level. Not an elite run and jump guy but more athletic than AK.

how does he compare to Landrew? they sound like theyre around the same size. is Landrew a better shooter and more athletic? is pierce a better rebounder and passer?

seems like we would have a glut of tweener Fs between Pierce, Landrew, and Stew but i wouldnt feel confident about any of them guarding bigger PFs like Yaxel and Boozer

I'd think Ross/Landrew play the 3 and Stewart/Pierce the 4.

There's definitely more PT and NIL for Caden elsewhere but not the same kind of development he'll get here for a shot at the league.

Athletic Profile & Context
  • Strength & Size: At 6-foot-7 and 220 pounds, Pierce is a strong player who uses his size effectively against bigger opponents in the post.
  • Agility and Speed: He is noted for being faster and more agile than many traditional big men, which allows him to create mismatches and generate rim pressure by driving from the perimeter.
  • Vertical Pop: He has a noticeable vertical ability ("vertical pop") that helps him play bigger than his height, particularly in rebounding and finishing at the rim.
  • Rebounding Prowess: His athleticism, combined with his basketball IQ and effort, makes him an excellent rebounder. He was the only underclassman in the nation in the 2023-24 season to average over 16 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal per game.
  • Versatility: Pierce's combination of athleticism, skill, and high basketball IQ makes him a versatile, multi-positional talent.

Is this kid graduating in Dec? Can he join team but not play next semester?
No to both. Well yes to the second one if he wants to pay his own way next semester at UConn. Graduating from Princeton in May. He has 1 season of eligibility left and he said he's using it for next season.

We would need a legit athletic banger down low still. That roster is shaping up to not be very big and athletic.

agreed but if all those Fs are on the roster next year it would have to be the backup C...

Demary / Transfer
Ball / County
Landrew / Ross
Pierce / Stew
Reibe / Transfer

not super excited about this depth chart tbh unless demary and ball become bazz and boat (possible), landrew is our 4th BE FOY in a row (possible), and pierce is a respectable AK replacement (possible). i do expect a massive leap from reibe as a soph.
