It's hard to judge height from a picture but he certainly looks way taller than his brother who plays for the Colts who is listed at 6'3. Also his brother Justin is standing right next to him and he's listed at 6'7.

I don't think anyone said he wouldn't be valuable. Unless you're saying you think Mahaney had no value? Both are bench pieces at best if you want to compete for anything.
To replace Karaban exactly, we'd be looking for someone with his size, length, IQ and shooting ability. Because that's hard to find, it seems like the staff is prioritizing 2 of the non-physical 4 traits over the others. That is what sounds like Mahaney to me

He hasn't played many games against high majors - although he did go to the Sweet 16 as a freshman and had 16 boards against Missouri in the second round - after 8 against Arizona in the first round (before the Kalkbrenner-Scheierman Creighton team kept him off the glass with 2 in 25 minutes). Then he had 21 and 14 last year against the Bailey/Harper Rutgers team (with the winning basket).

Seems like his rebounding would translate, but I think the hope would be if we signed him that his passing might translate too (3.2 assists per game his last two years). A Demary-Ball-Ross-Stewart-Reibe nucleus is a bit passing deficient. Maybe County, Furphy or Landrew can help with that a bit as other options on the wing - but our offense needs a couple of good passers out there.

I hear this a lot but Caden is apparently choosing between UConn, Purdue, Duke, and Gonzaga so he has a rather remarkable collection of coaches fooled if he proves an absolute bust.

...Would also be murdered on the glass against a robust out of Conference schedule that we're trending torward. If you thought the Arizona game was bad, it would be worse against the Arizona, Florida, and Illinois of the world.

Yeah, Stew's height is ok, his length even better, but he doesn't have positional awareness or the presence in the paint that Karaban has shown since freshman year. His build is also very top heavy and he can't get his ass into the person he boxes out like Karaban can. It's a bad comparison, but Clingan sort of had this top heavy issue for a while but all of his attributes nulled it and it never became much of an issue.

I’d call him 3.75. Not sure why he’s too small to be a PF. He’s an inch shorter than Alex and same weight, likely longer. Defends 4s better than 3s.

Has anybody watched him play? I get why many assume he is a non athlete but 6'3 4.40 brother disputes the notion of terrible genetics.

If Pierce isn’t an Alex replacement then he’s a stew replacement. It’s one or the other because we don’t need 2 backup PFs

Not trying to disparage the guy but Aiden had a pretty serious set of suitors too.

As did the kid we really wanted who went to KU and we wound up with Cam. It happens.

Nick Timberlake. I was going to cite him too when telling everyone to just trust coaches on face value here. Anyone can be wrong, but who knows more about basketball and players?

His brother is in the NFL and is a 6’3 WR who runs a 4.4 - not sure if the question was serious but that’s what he meant.

His other brother played basketball at UNC and now is overseas as a pro.
