Butler Postgame Thread

Surprisingly, this was another Quad 1 win.
Only stays a Quad 1 win if Butler doesn’t drop to 76 or lower from their current 73. We need Villanova to clean up their remaining schedule except for us, because they’re sitting at 33, and we need them to get to 30 for our home win to be Quad 1.

TNT should do more of our games... this extended post-game studio analysis with Bruce pearl, mashburn, Jalen rose is good stuff
They mentioned the lack of bench depth and Mash commented that Reibe needs to contribute more. Good analysis.

So it wasn't just me who kept saying there were a lot of late whistles. Call the foul when you see it not 3 seconds later after the player misses the shot and someone already has secured the rebound.
Yeah. Noticed that a number of times. I didn't think the officiating impacted the outcome, but my gosh were the refs bad tonight. We're witnessing some of the worst BE officiating ever.

I would like to see him have similar production in the second half like he had in the first half. Why is that too much to ask considering his talent? I think he will get there but not sure.

I mentioned it in the chat - he's a really nice player, but when compared to some of the freshmen that are really having great seasons this year, I'm not sure he's even in the top 20 when you look across the country.
and yet hes projected 10th in latest mock drafts. come on man, enough.

When was Stew's offense ever "on"?
He has had some good games this year but more so last year when scored 16 against Texas. He also scored at least 14 last year against Villanova, Creighton, UMess, and Depaul last year. This year he has scored 10 against both Arizona and Texas so has had his moments for sure.

Very interesting how many people are unhappy with our offensive performance considering what all the stats say. The good news is that now that we're above the arbitrary cutoff of top 25 KenPom offense we're back to being a title contender after tonight

Yeah tonight our Offense wasn't the issue. Our deense was and we still won by 10 on the road against a decent Butler team.

I thought our D was mainly the issue tonight. We scored 80. But it wasn’t super crisp. They seemed just lacking energy, for lack of a better way to describe it.

But Mullins had some great shots, Reed had some buckets, and really Solo shot us into a strong performance.

I mentioned it in the chat - he's a really nice player, but when compared to some of the freshmen that are really having great seasons this year, I'm not sure he's even in the top 20 when you look across the country. One part may be because we don't need him as much, another is that he's not an on ball player. He generally requires the offense to get him open most of the time, so unless the actions get him space, he's not really creating much. He doens't shoot a great % when he doesn't have space. Even Solo is showing more variety in his game, with the pump & drives to the middy or rim. It's not always pretty, but it's versatile. Mullins is 90% catch and shoot. It's hard to really dominate in any fashion when that's almost your entire bag.

Love Mullins, but it wouldn't be a bad idea for Hurley to not constantly overindex on shooters as it can be offensively limiting. This would have been the kind of year where could have used a really versatile athlete/scorer at the 3 with Solo at the 2.
So we shouldn’t have recruited Mullins…..your string continues

Our elite defense that helped us not stumble through bad games in January has not been so elite recently. Not sure what has to be fixed there.

3 point shooting seemed good - but damn, it seemed like we missed some easy ones.

Not feeling like a final four team right now, but feeling like we could get there. But it's mid February. Time to clean this up and beat teams like this by a larger margin.

At worst a second weekend team I think. On paper not a bad game. Won by 10. 11.5 point spread. Predictive outlook improved off the game

Our offense needs to start drawing some ft's.

How? What can we start doing next game to do that? There is no Newt on this team.
Attack the rim with purpose. We haven't been good around the rim. So many missed layups all year.

AK rarely has a plan when he gets close to the hoop and Jaylin gets in the air all the time with no plan how to finish or draw a foul. Tarris needs to play more physical, he was way better in the second half tonight with it. Solo has improved around the rim but will still go for the acrobatic layup instead of trying to draw contact.

You think a mock rating (which could move around a lot) equals college productivity?
You think there are 20+ freshmen in the p5 who are more productive, relative to their teams offense and overall skill level (and defense for that matter) than Braylon Mullins? You actually think that?
