Looking way forward for some reason, but man, we are gonna need to bring in a grad transfer perimeter stopper BADLY. Our freshman class is gonna be great, but none of them are particularly good defenders.
Need a dog that can defend 1-4, and is physical. Lunch pale guy.

Looks like bandwagon is emptying out. Fine by me, the ones left are more fun to be with.

Right now I'd say the players are generally likeable but this team isn't easy as a fan. Collectively the players do a lot to make things hard on themselves and Hurley seems to be coaching like he did in 2021-2022. Let's other teams get runs and kill momentum UConn builds.

Eventually, our coaches have to develop guys man.

Ross and Abraham should be that if our coaches are the developers they say they are. And Stewart.

lol for football. It must be mad tiring reaching for stupid things to try and discredit someone’s lifelong fandom.
Lol at what UConn football? It’s ok you can be a bandwagon fan, it’s just my opinion. I’ll just never understood how someone can’t be a fan of 2 different college teams again that’s my opinion.

A win is a win, take it and move on.

Think this season though is showing Hurley you can’t just recruit offense and teach them to play defense.
This is what worries me about next year. Of the guys we recruited only 1 of them plays any D. We need to get some help in the Transfer Portal for defensive players.

We kinda know Ross isn’t that. He’s erratic and not particularly strong. He has tools but seems to not have the focus.

UConn football wasn’t even a D1 program when I started rooting for Michigan football. Please shut up man you sound stupid saying I’m a bandwagon fan because you don’t like my opinion on a team I rooted for all my life

This team is like a marginally better '15/'16 team. Good amount of talent. Likeable players. And they shoot themselves in the foot all the time.

Hurley really missed in the PG department. Both Mahaney and Nowell don't look like they are up to this level of play. I had hopes Nowell would get better with more minutes but he seems to be regressing and he doesn't play good D. Mahaney has been talked about for a long time but he is giving us next to nothing on offense too now. I like Diarra but he shouldn't be a starting PG on a legitimate National Championship contender. He can't break down defenses consistently and doesn't shoot well enough outside for teams to respect him there. i think we look a lot different with Tristen Newton or Even Cam Spencer on this team.

So your a lifelong bandwagon fan, getting pretty defensive about Jim Harbaugh on a UConn board, while trashing Hurley. This isnt a Michigan board btw

Hulu apparently decided the game ended with 57 seconds left in regulation, so that was great. At least we won so it was worth the search to finish the game
Did they go to Creighton v DePaul? Or something else? Just curious. Never heard of a streaming service doing that.

I’d say developing a portal guy out of East Carolina into a first team All American counts.
Hurley star pupil = All American and 59th pick in the NBA draft

This board and I have very different opinions of Tristan Newton but that’s okay. I’m hoping Hurley has better star pupils to show off his development with in the future.

This sophomore class is a great chance to do that because they’ll be here for more than 2 years. Develop these very talented young men that trusted in your coaching enough to come here. Please do not give up on them to grab a transfer guy someone else already coached up.

Why don't I feel happy after this win?

Why do we have the exceptional ability to take mediocre side-shows on other teams and turn them into the hottest unconscious shooters in the league?

Why do we need to hear the word "Bizjack" over and over again while watching the game?

Why do I have to lookup how to spell Jahmyl after he scores a grillion points...the same way over and over again ( layups)? I don't want to know who he is...ever..

But we've already seen that with McNeeley this team was firing on all cylinders and a very good team. So even if it's a lot to put on one guy, it's already been shown it's possible
Tis true - I’ll argue that some of those wins were over-valued, but the team generally looked much better. This is the one thing to hinge hopes on. Still massive flaws for one guy to remediate but who knows. Chemistry is a funny thing.

The team is way better with McNeeley and can be competitive with most anyone but.,…..not 3 peat good. Everyone is starting to get that now. I appreciate what the team has given us all.

Sitting down to watch then play right now borderline feels like a choreographed not a diversion.

You act like he's the only player that got better under Hurley? Vital. Bouknight. Tyrese Martin. Sanogo. Hawkins. Clingan.

He didn’t give up on them this year and I don’t see him doing that. But they have to earn minutes. It’s not like a guy like Ross for example has only been getting 5 minutes a game. He’s been getting chances to show growth. Do we think the staff isn’t coaching Samson not to commit silly fouls 30 feet from the basket? Of course not. You can lead a horse to water, but at some point the horse needs to drink.

Hurley needs to live in the moment. Stop talking about going for three straight. Stop talking about being the best coach in the sport. Stop talking about the refs giving respect to the defending back-to-back champs. And stop talking about looking at your championship rings after losses. Focus on getting this very flawed team into the NCAA tournament and in a position where maybe they can make some noise.

This doesn't look like a team that is well coached right now. Do I think Danny is a great coach? Of course I do. But he's not showing it right now. He needs to focus on fixing this and forget about the past.

The national media and the rest of college basketball would love to bury us. They'll forget about our back-to-back championships in no time. Focus on the present.
You nailed it, but left out one thing:

WE need to live in the moment, and to stop talking about going for three straight!

Okay, AK is back, but Diarra, Ball, Johnson, and McNeeley are just nowhere near the equivalent of Newton, Castle, Spencer, and Clingan.

Diarra and Ball have reached their ceiling, and we can’t expect more of them. The transfers, Reed and Mahaney, have been, at best, inconsistent, and the other two sophs, Stewart and Ross, still aren’t ready for big roles.

So let’s just swallow our disappointment and appreciate whatever this year’s team manages to accomplish.
