This is the worst coached o-line in cfb.
I think we are lacking in talent in this area, but they are certainly not as bad as the stats show.
What I saw on those runs were interior lineman playing passive. And this can happen in the zone scheme. You are blocking areas. But what a good coach would do is hammer home the fact that they have to move!!! Move!!!!! If there is no one in the zone, don't wait for someone, get out of the hole - hit someone at the next level! That is the key in zone blocking, and sometimes O Lineman tend to take baby steps at the second level or in space.
I was a guilty party in high school. We moved to a zone scheme, and I did just that. I felt like I needed to wait for someone to come into the space. And I remember my offensive line coach ripping into me during film. I ddn't make the mistake again.
