It was a deliberate punch that connected. Whatever the rule is for that should be applied. If he hits him in the face or the groin, people would be demanding a suspension.

People are confusing this with the normal pushing and shoving that happens when things get heated.

I agree, I think the apology was pretty good - to get into semantics of him not saying punch is nitpicking. He admitted what he did was wrong.

I happened to have just tuned in to that game just before he punched him... I could not believe what I saw and replayed it 2 or 3 times... It was clearly intentional albeit I do not know how powerful of a punch it was.... In any event, I think he should be suspended for the length of the tournament. Not surprising that his dad has tried to blow it off... We all know what a low life he is....
