OK Sean, let's compare our "mid major" programs.Don't look now, you're a mid major as well.
1) UC has 3 NC's over the past 14 years. PC hasn't been to the big dance in 10 years.
2) UC is preseason ranked between #11 and #19. PC is unranked.
3) The AAC is rated above the NBE. UC is picked #2 (definitely in NCAA's) PC is picked #6.(if prediction holds true 6 NBE teams ain't making the big dance)
4) UConn has 2 five star players joining our "mid major" program next year. Cooley has a decent incoming class of players in the 50-70's range---definitely more mid major than UConn. Will they play?? Ledo didn't, Austin is a big Question mark.
5) And most important---By most accounts, the big football schools will split from the NCAA. ND will be then forced to join the ACC in FB.
This means another team is needed to make 16 teams for scheduling purposes. Or, the B1G will need 2 more teams, and the Big 12 would need 4 more teams. Bottom line is UConn will be one of those 7 teams. Those left out will be the equivalent of D-1AA in FB.
Now, 5-8 years from now it could be possible that UConn & PC are total "mid majors", but, I'll take UConn's chances over PC's as remaining in the big picture, any day of the year.
