Don't look now, you're a mid major as well.
OK Sean, let's compare our "mid major" programs.
1) UC has 3 NC's over the past 14 years. PC hasn't been to the big dance in 10 years.
2) UC is preseason ranked between #11 and #19. PC is unranked.
3) The AAC is rated above the NBE. UC is picked #2 (definitely in NCAA's) PC is picked #6.(if prediction holds true 6 NBE teams ain't making the big dance)
4) UConn has 2 five star players joining our "mid major" program next year. Cooley has a decent incoming class of players in the 50-70's range---definitely more mid major than UConn. Will they play?? Ledo didn't, Austin is a big Question mark.
5) And most important---By most accounts, the big football schools will split from the NCAA. ND will be then forced to join the ACC in FB.
This means another team is needed to make 16 teams for scheduling purposes. Or, the B1G will need 2 more teams, and the Big 12 would need 4 more teams. Bottom line is UConn will be one of those 7 teams. Those left out will be the equivalent of D-1AA in FB.
Now, 5-8 years from now it could be possible that UConn & PC are total "mid majors", but, I'll take UConn's chances over PC's as remaining in the big picture, any day of the year.

Austin should play eventually, he's not Ledo.

Talk about throwing an airball!!! I defended Henton. Exact opposite, tough guy. Learn how to comprehend what you read. Also, I said KO has an 0-fer on his post season resume. That is not "devoid of a factual basis"; that is a 100% accurate. If you are going to call someone out; buy a clue first. See ya.

KO literally has not yet had the opportunity to qualify nor fail to qualify for a tournament spot. I guess that'd make you, me, everyone on this board, your pet hermit crab and 99.99% of everyone in existence an 0-fer by default as well. "Calling out" Ollie for not making the NCAA tournament thus far is akin to trying to criticize a car by pointing at it and saying, "Wow that car sucks. Just look at it - it's a car!"

Who cares about post-season.

I think I speak for all UCONN fans when I say that beating PC is more important than postseason success.

PS: Sean - did you cry when PC got bounced in the NIT last year?

All of this back & forth is really just silly…

Bottom-line…
  • You'd be hard-pressed to find a single division 1 college hoop program who wouldn't have liked a 'do over' with certain recruited or committed players
  • Player indiscretions & the associated treatment will not always be handled in a consistent manner & will always be a target of opposing fan-bases
  • Conference re-alligment/hopping will continue… Some will be happy… Some not…
  • In the last 14 years only one Division 1 Men's Hoop program has won 3 National Championships & that program is not named Providence

.-.
This thread is a hot steamy pile- and it is about a program that is now nearly meaningless to us. Stop the madness.
