Redshirt everyone. Field a team of walk-ons. Keep the schollys in the holster. Load up for 2013-2014. Win 3 straight NCs. Piss on the NCAA building. Slash Hathaway's tires. Sleep with Emmert's wife. Never call her again. Retire.

That would be my plan if I were JC.

Well, Bradley was the one player who could never redshirt again, so maybe...lol

This reminds me of one of my favorite Far Side comics. Two guys crawling in the desert in one direction come nose to nose to a camel crawling in the opposite direction. One guys says to the other, "Well this isn't a very cheerful sign."

As it stands now, we have Olander, Wolk and Roscoe to man the 4 & 5. Of those 3, only one has the size to play the 5 and that player has close to no experience.

Add to that, we're not eligible for the 2013 NCAA tournament unless something changes, impacting how attractive UConn would be for many recruits.

Let's hope that there are some bigs out there that see themselves as multi-year players and lots of available PT to earn in Storrs. If JC announces his decision to return for next season, I would not be shocked if UConn can land a couple bigs who know about JC's and UConn's track record of developing players for the NBA. We're not going to attract any one-and-done type recruits, we rarely do, AD not withstanding, but the 3 to 4 year developmental player like Boone, Hilton & Emeka might feel they can earn more PT here than they can elsewhere while being groomed for the NBA or Europe. The only problem with this is there seem to be very few available 2012 bigs out there. Maybe there are some international bigs out there to be had that don't realize...okay, don't care about the NCAA Tourney ban.

What's so sad about all this, is Bradley seems like such a great kid that I think fits the above description and we'll never get to see him play. I'm a tad surprised he wants to transfer with so much PT there for him to earn. I wonder if the staff and Bradley himself realized that he just doesn't have the ability to play at the high major level, but I thought he was at least in the mold of Gavin Edwards, if not a Boone or a Hilton. On well, time to move on...hum...I beginning to hate those words that I'm all to often saying these days.

I wish Michael success wherever he lands. He's a class act that never complained and always seemed to be big time team player.

On the plus side, UConn has many available ships for 2013-2014 and lots of PT available...shame Noel decided to move up a year.

If you took the total wingspan of our starting 5 in 2011/12 and compared it to 2012/13, you might get the single biggest year to year reduction in NCAA history.

If Bradley had any real chance of helping the club, he likely wouldn't be leaving. Therefore, while I absolutely wish the young man nothing but the best, this is not a development I will be losing sleep over.

And blaming the NCAA for it is beyond ludicrous. The young man couldn't earn a minute of playing time in two years. Yes, it's the NCAA's doing. Good grief.

Not blaming the NCAA or saying MB was going to be a star but I think he was hurt at least last season.

It's clear to me that both this transfer and Drummond's going pro are evidence that the rumors that have been floating around are true. Tyler has been an absolute beast in the weight room. His game is growing exponetially. No doubt that's why Noel passed on UConn to go Kentucky and Melo turned pro. EO Smith's finest is going to get national recognition next year. Mark it down.

The 5 guard offense?

Yeah, that's the ticket. Apparently, if JC needs a day or two off Geno will be taking over the team.

We bring the kid along- invest time and energy into him and then he leaves right when we need him? Nice.

C'mon he had a tough few breaks and still was a gamer on the bench and seemingly a great teammate.......also his story is wonderful and refreshing and I hope he does well wherever he lands and whatever he does after basketball!!

We may need a poll. Who's tougher? Dolson or Wolf?

Who would you start?

It's going to be a long spring .....

Uh, he redshirted his freshman year because being on campus an extra year would help him as a pharmacy major.

He fractured his ankle before the season started this past year and thus wasn't healthy enough all year.

We now have two true big men on the roster, he likely would've been one of our two best rebounders. He would've played big minutes next year, don't kid yourself. This is a big deal.

If you think these departures are all independent of one another and have nothing to do with the postseason ban, you have your head in the sand.

I guess I need to shower the sand out of my hair. And, for what it's worth, he was practicing full out with the team before New Year's. The fact that he never made it on the floor all year was not, from what was reported, for health reasons.

Think for a minute. A young man is surrendering a full ride scholarship to a top tier pharmacy program. This would be analogous to dropping out of any Ivy league school to go to community college. There's more here than a desire for minutes or dreams of a pro basketball career. (Why enroll in such a difficult program?) To paraphrase an old adage: Do not assign to maliciousness that which can be explained by personal hardship. I cannot believe he wanted to make this decision, nor that it was an easy one to reach. There are things in play here you know nothing about and making snide remarks is not appropriate.

So my mom wasn't the only one who used to say this?

All I can say is damn! Bradley is probably the most important player never to play a minute at UConn. I have nothing bad to say about the kid and I hope he succeeds wherever he goes and plays good basketball and gets his degree!

You have a player who hasn't gotten in yet, with three years of eligibility, giving up one to go somewhere else to play. For a rational person in his shoes, it would not have anything to do with the NCAA ban.

I guess I need to shower the sand out of my hair. And, for what it's worth, he was practicing full out with the team before New Year's. The fact that he never made it on the floor all year was not, from what was reported, for health reasons.

He'd get a sixth year of eligibility, so he'd have four years of eligibility, and then have three years of eligibility if he transfers.

He has seen 3 teammates leave school in the last three weeks. Oriakhi outright said that the ban played a big role in his decision, and reports said that the ban played a role in Drummond's decision as well. It's not exactly preposterous to think that could affect him, instability can create a domino effect in college basketball.

"And, for what it's worth, he was practicing full out with the team before New Year's. The fact that he never made it on the floor all year was not, from what was reported, for health reasons."

That's just not true. http://courantblogs.com/uconn-men/mailbag-221-roles-for-michael-bradley-enosch-wolf/

Michael Bradley fractured his ankle in October and had surgery. In January, Jim Calhoun said he was still limping some and may actually need a full year to fully recover. It is possible that Bradley, though he red-shirted last season, could get a medical redshirt and another year of eligibility.

http://courantblogs.com/uconn-men/jim-calhoun-looking-for-jeremy-lamb-to-get-open/

Michael Bradley, who had surgery to repair a fractured ankle in October, has been practicing, but is still limping, Calhoun said. It may take a year for the injury to fully heal, so he may not play in a game this season.

http://borgesblognhr.blogspot.com/2012/01/greeetings-from-knoxville.html

Calhoun said Bradley (who fractured his ankle back in the fall) is still noticeably limping in practice.

“There’s a chance that ankle won’t be better for a year," Calhoun said. "He really had extensive surgery, he was out an incredibly long time, so there’s a chance he may not get into a game this year.”

That is all from January and February.

Sounds like Olander is going to blow up like the incredible hulk, maybe even turn green?

Whatever it takes.
