This math doesn’t make sense pretty sure it’s 7 teams still alive
Maybe the 77 includes Appalachian State/Georgia Southern since someone has to win? And then the 5 are Miami, Vanderbilt, Buffalo, UL, USM

They play again next week against FBS Akron

Ok so as of last week there were 73.

This week:

Missouri
Miami (OH)
App State / Ga Southern
Louisiana
Southern Miss
UAB

So that's 79

Vandy playing tonight
Miami playing tonight
Buffalo playing next week

That's 82 - if they all win.

Yes there are 82 slots. All could still be accounted for with 6 win teams. We are in one of the 82 slots.

This is correct; as long as NMST doesnt schedule a FBS opponent to make up for the San Jose State postponement, UConn will worst case be one of only 82 teams at legit 6-6 or better...

And the only teams they could schedule a make up game with are San Jose St (the cancelled game) or anybody who has played @ Hawaii and didn't take the 13th game (Vandy, Nevada, Wyoming, Utah St, UNLV)? If UNLV or Vandy are sitting on 5 wins after tonight, that might become an interesting opportunity - winner makes a bowl game.

Keep in mind NMSU is an independent, so if you're a bowl committee, do you want them or UConn?

Miami and Vandy looking helpless in their games right now. Should give even more clearance for us in the event NMSU finds an FBS opponent.

App State has 6 wins but 2 of them are FCS. So winner of App State/Georgia Southern gets the 77th spot. Leaving 5 open spots for the remaining 5 5win teams. We're in
But after reviewing App States results this season. They would’ve had 5 FBS wins and 1 FC

it doesn’t look like NMSU will be playing an FBS opponent per local news there

Seems hard to believe one of those teams with 5 wins that could schedule another game (I.e. Vanderbilt) wouldn’t jump on the opportunity to become bowl eligible. Do 6-6 teams with 2 FCS wins have priority over a 5-7 team with an APR waiver? Obviously UConn would be in over them but it’s an interesting situation.

From a few pages back - not independently verified for accuracy but…

Damn I hope you're all correct. With no tie in I fully expect to be screwed...
