Bowl Games (Non-UConn)

USF is on the rise in spending. Not sure much else will stick.

USF doesn’t have the support UConn does. They catch lightning in a bottle every 8 years or so, get ranked and people show up, then they falter and everyone leaves. They don’t have the base we have because Blue Blood basketball builds a brand and a fan base no other non P4 has. Our fan base is definitely equivalent to the top half of the P4, probably top 25-30%. Look at merch sales and NIL store sales.
If UConn were AAU and building an on-campus stadium despite playing in an NFL stadium just down the road, I think we would most certainly believe we were on the cusp of great things. Those are two very big boxes UConn probably won't be able to check.

They do put them in smallish venues. The 68 ventures game was at South Alabama’s stadium, capacity 25k
Well that's depressing. I guess there's only so much you can do to make a crowd of 1200 look big outside of putting them in the Detrick Gymnaisum.

There is nobody at the Gasparilla Bowl.
Prior years attendance:

This year's attendance was listed as 13,336 per ESPN...from what I saw ain't no way they had that many people in the seats in today's game. It almost seemed like the cameras tried to avoid showing the stands. Hell, the Myrtle Beach Bowl looked better attended, and they had 9000+.

13k is really bad. Yikes.

OU showing signs of life, in the 4th. They dominated early, but I thought the game really turned when Mateer had an easy first down run up 17-7, but instead takes a shot at a big gainer, the pass wasn't great, but catchable, and the receiver dropped it. The next play the punter drops the ball (Bama cashes in a FG on the short field) and the next series Mateer has the pick-6 tying the game putting Bama squarely in control for the rest of the half and the third quarter.

Freeman>Sandell. Our PK would have made those kicks.

I predicted Alabama would steal the Title as they had the easiest path. They'll roll over 1-hit wonder Indiana next.

The sim I've been running has Ohio State as the best team and Alabama as the second best team. Matchup with Indiana will be fun and it's tough draw for the Hoosiers for sure.

When in doubt root against the SEC... so if someone has to win a dreadful game (between the two teams that beat Notre Dame) it might as well hinder the SEC narrative.
