Bouknight Draft Watch

They aren’t gasping because they didn’t pick Bouk, they were just surprised. Again, 6’9” point guards that can shoot aren’t everyday players. He’s a young player with upside. That’s the draft.

Bouk is slipping due to injuries and ball handling limitations. He’ll be fine because he has tremendous talent, but this isn’t a surprise.
Giddey is not a shooter. He's a playmaker solely at this stage.

Charlotte? Really? Was this result worth it? Ya, he will get some bucks, but Charlotte? Really? No wonder he looked disappointed....just sayin'...

Horribly run franchise but they have taken advantage of the stupidity of other franchises two years in a row now.

And the protections on the Kai Jones trade mean they are likely giving up an equal or worse pick in a few years.

They are doing better the past few years.

I wonder who was on the phone...

He talks about it more on this podcast:

He says that he thinks pick 11 was so popular because James fell that low. Also mentions there was almost a bidding war type of situation for the pick.

There is also a separate episode on here with Dan Hurley who says he is glad he’s not in the AAC anymore.

Michael Jordan loves UConn guys. What’s that now, 4 first round picks on UConn players in the past decade?

I had no idea of first rounders by program since 2010....so I looked it up....Kentucky lapped the field. How did they only win one national championship since 2010 with those numbers? UConn won two.

Kentucky....30
Duke..........21
UNC..........14
Kansas......10

The chance to get PT and maybe even start from the get-go on a team that looks like a good fit is worth a couple of draft spots. The old guard is cycling out over the next few years, if Phoenix can get good why can't Charlotte?

Jordan loves guys from blueblood and successful programs

One of the athletic mocks had some wild stats about their drafting

Because 1 and dones is not a good model to win college championships.

Since 2010...
UK: 7 E8, 4 F4, 1 NC & a 25 win team heading into 2020 tournament
Duke: 5 E8, 2 F4, 2 NC & a 25 win team heading into 2020 tournament
UNC: 4 E8, 2 F4, 1 NC
Kansas: 5 E8, 2 F4 & a 28 win team heading into 2020 tournament

The prominent 1 and done programs have been very good over the past decade - the fact the UConn is a statistical outlier doesn't change anything.

Did 2010 Duke have a big one and done?

unc title team was carried by vets too.

I mean those are just elite programs. They’re going to have success no matter what.

Duke really started bug one and done with the okafor class and has been fine too.

im trying to think of what program that isn’t a blue blood has relied more on one and dones

That Duke team didn't have a single one and done. Ton of top rated talent (5 RSCI Top 20 players!) and 7 players who at least appeared in an NBA game. The next year was their first really big one (Kyrie). Then they had Austin Rivers the year after and Jabari Parker two years after that. Then they started loading up.

Tony Bradley was one and done for UNC in 2017, and he was a significant contributor, but not the core of that team, who were Juniors and Seniors.

2018 Villanova had Omari Spellman too.
