Bouknight Draft Watch

Before I even started reading it I knew he was gonna have Jalen Johnson in it. I think this is a strange top 10.

Johnson had insane upside, but he also has more red flags than the top 6-7.

But he fits this position-less NBA quite well.

I don’t understand why kids voluntarily leave school early mid season. Never seems to work out. (Wiseman is the exception as he was essentially forced out)

If Jalen Johnson also goes early Chief is gonna have a meltdown. First wrong on Bouknight and then he'd be wrong about Johnson too

Just to be clear, what is that bias?
I just thought it was funny that he has Jalen Johnson that high. It really wasn’t that serious. He obviously is always going to have a Duke bias and that’s understandable.

I think the Magic surprise people and take him at 5.

I'm going with #4 to the Raptors. If it comes down to Suggs or Bouknight why are the Raptors drafting a backup point guard to Fred Van Vleet (getting paid $20 mil a season til 2024) when they can get a starting SG in Bouknight?

If Raptors are going best available then go Suggs but by fit you take Bouknight imo.

Personally I don’t think there’s a worse idea than drafting for fit at the top of the lottery. I’d imagine the Kings FO still has PTSD over passing on Luka because they weren’t sure how he would fit with Fox. But it sounds like the Raptors may like Bouk more than Suggs, so may be a moot point anyway.

this is my nightmare. Praying they Magic and take another raw high upside combo forward in Kaminga. OKC or GSW would be awesome especially golden state (obviously)

Feel would have heard much more buzz via Bouk and raptors by now

I mentioned this earlier, mock drafts are never accurate. There is always a top 5 surprise and I think that will be Bouknight.

Huh? Bilas is very fair by almost every account. Don't be one of those fans that feel slighted by an analyst that doesn't feel exactly how you feel about your team and its players.

Bilas used to be the best in the business, 10 years ago he was THE best commentator and analyst ESPN had. You wouldn't have known he was a Dookie. Up until maybe 5 years ago that changed. He hasn't been the same analyst nor as sharp in player evals or commentating.

That's funny cuz most dookies think he's too biased AGAINST them. Back when it looked like UNC was going to get skewered by the NCAA he was leading the charge defending them.

On this particular situation, he is CLUELESS!

It was a weird argument trying to say the ncaa shouldn’t be in there.

If you’re gonna have apr at all, thing like grades, courses and other apr fraud should all fall under the ncaa umbrella.

He had been linked to Orlando with the #8 pick for a while. After his combine I put $5 on him to go #5 to the Magic at +3500. Now his odds of going #5 down all the way to +350... Would be a nice little payout if it hits (and an extra $1 million in first year salary for James going #5 vs #8)

I may just have to take our friendly neighborhood maniac off ignore tonight to watch the mental gymnastics. Bouk is going to be proving a lot of naysayers in UConn fandom wrong. Tonight will 100% elevate our recruiting and Hurley's reputation in the high-major bball world.

Yea I have $20 at +4000 to go #5

I'm not sure I'd put a lot of stock in the NBA app's predictions, but the app lists Bouk going to the Thunder at #6 in their latest mock draft. And while I don't know too much about the current lineup for that team or if it would be a bad place for him to land, I think it would be pretty cool for him and Kemba to play together (if they are even keeping Kemba that is).

Don't see it as close to "almost every account". The 2014 tournament Bilas picked against UConn all six games and then did his lame "toughness" act after the fact. Saying something like "UConn may not be the the best team but they are the toughest". Thought the tournament was designed to determine the "best" team. Would he have stated Kentucky wasn't the best team if they had won?

Its great all the good press and draft jump by Bouk. Now the concern has shifted because he's moved up in the draft. I really don't want him to go to a crappy franchise. The top-4 in the draft is pretty set from most reports and that leaves mostly crappy teams 5 - 11.

Really don't want Bouk on Orlando, The Kings or the Grizz (I'd much rather he go 6th or 7th than 5th). Seems like OKC at 6 is most likely (but they are trying to move up - please don't trade with Cleveland and Bouknight end up there!) and Golden St would obviously be awesome (not sure he's a fit though). A good team and a good fit is often what's most important for NBA success, no one wants an Aaron Gordon career arc.
