That logic works when it's not the Hornets who other than Melo Ball have been unable to develop first round picks. And before you say "PJ Washington is good too!" he's a PF who shoots 45% on a bad team...
yeah and lamelo didnt start til the 20th game. it's one game where a middling team is trying to see where they stand

as for pj and miles bridges....yeah they aren't stars. but pj played 30 min a game last year and so did bridges. which doesn't seem like something a team not committed to playing their young guys would do, which is why i'm saying maybe don't condemn their strategy after one single game. they give their guys chances, i'm sorry it wasn't instant for everyone here

I'm ready for him to drop 25 points tomorrow night and he's the new favorite for ROY

Another career going to be wasted in Charlotte it looks like. Which makes what Melo Ball doing that much more impressive.
After one game this is the conclusion you derive? Maybe there is something above and beyond physical state or talent that is sitting Bouk down. Some kids take a bit longer to mature

Hopefully he'll see a few minutes against the Cavs tonight.

Not looking good for minutes again tonight. Seems so odd to me. This sucks, and I hope he cracks the rotation soon.

NBA is a pro league and shows how good any veteran is. Bouk will get his chance but right now he’s not better than the guys ahead of him. Charlotte is all about making the playoffs and not developing their young talent at the moment.

I don’t necessarily disagree with this take, but I have a real hard time believing Cody Martin is better than Bouk.

Hopefully he uses this bench time to soak in as much as possible. He’s wayyyy too talented to ride the bench all season - playoff ambitions or not.

As of 10/22/21 Martin is certainly better than Bouknight for winning games. Charlotte is all about winning now no matter what just bc they have so horrible for so long. Bouknight will get his chance.

They really score in spurts, don't they. 20-1 run to start the 4th. And Wednesday they went on a 26-2 run in 6 minutes in the 3rd.

Sometimes it just depends on the team and coach’s view on rookies and how to bring them along. Two second round Big East selections Mamu from Seton Hall had 25+ minutes with 12 points for the Bucks and Nova’s Robinson-Earl had 21 minutes with 6 boards and 4 points. Some coaches throw the rookies into the fire and others hold them back. Bouk’s time will come, and he will be ready.

In Chief’s view, the two areas Bouknight needs to focus on are: 1) Over-all maturity growth and professional approach, 2) On the court, learning to play with other talented players in a less Bouknight centric offense than what he experience his sophomore year at UConn.

As for #1, James is fortunately in the right position in Charlotte. He is getting good guidance from ownership, GM and coaching staff. To expand on #2, watching the 76’ers last night, Chief was so proud of Drummond playing some impactful 4th quarter minutes. Although, it would be in a losing effort, his rebounding, pick and roll screens, blocking shots and playing defense really stood out. Bouknight needs to expand his mindset in terms of contributing in other things besides points. In his case, creating opportunities for others through penetration and passing, good assist/turnovers ball security, defense, etc.

Again, James is a rookie after playing less than 2 college seasons, so let the process work. It’s up to him to gradually improve in these areas. Let Charlotte work with him and built the foundation the right way. Looking at points or minutes per game at this junction, is using the wrong metrics. Casual Fans, please be patient.

word is he wasn't giving the old defense approach even in practice. just like Knox on the Knicks...u don't give the effort then you don't get the minutes...

More mush. Bouk has more natural talent than most of the Hornets. The fact the coaches cannot figure out a role for Bouk says NOTHING about Bouk and everything abut the Hornet staff. Get the kid some minutes.
