And we've reached the point where not only is he defending a bunch of classless thugs, he's also defending LaLa

Thugs? Holy crap. I wouldn't throw stones, KG just might be the least classiest "thug" playing in the NBA

The Celts made a run and you never know......one thing is defined in this series vs the Knicks, PP should retire gracefully.....the young Shumpert body on him makes him look very old. Shump overplays one side nearly everytim, his right and then beats him to his left if he tries. His only made shots have been well guarded (which he can still do on occasion but not like he used to) or open while trying to create with Shump in the lineup has been near to impossible. Hope he finds a way to help the C's win in Boston and maybe even NY but his impact on the game is over.....unless he can find a situation like Ray in Miami?

Pierce is a shell of himself but as one of the beat writers recently put, he has been asked to do even more since Rondo went down than he had to do when he was the only offensive option in the mid 2000's. He's played four positions this year and at his age, with his mileage, it has caught up to him. Hopefully a summer off and a healthy roster next year (Rondo, Sullinger, etc) and they can make another go of it with a PP who is specializing at the three.

Interesting, care to elaborate or is this Boston/Knick fan banter? I see nothing in this thread to indicate that.

Or perhaps you know him personally and don't like him?
It's my inference that the thread title is in reference to his only contributions to this board outside of being a Knicks' fan. Posting threads titled "_______ sighting" anytime a UConn player is on TV.

I was at the game and I will say this, the Knicks are never going very far with Carmelo Anthony. He is just not good for a basketball team. I saw a graphic yesterday that he's been to the playoffs like 8 or 9 times and this is only the second time he's gotten out of the first round. I think there's a good reason for that. Him and J.R. Smith together are the kiss of death.

I didn't look at the box score but what did Anthony shoot tonight? Felt like 7-25 or so.

That was the most ridiculous run I've ever seen. Just couldn't break through, oh well.

I kind of agree with you, but I just wanted to point out that George Karl was his coach for most of his career, and Karl is terrible. Especially recently, as seen in this year's Nuggets-Warriors series.

He's the only player in the NBA I believe besides the big three in San Antonio that has been to the playoffs every year he's been in the league that have played at least 5 years. His playoff record is horrible, but so was KG's prior to going to Boston. As a Knick fan I'm only concerned with what he does while on our team. Also, for the crap he gets for not getting out of the first round, George Karl has yet to get out of the first round since Melo was traded from Denver.

Most of the reason Karl never got out was because of melo..........and now Galinari was hurt or they would have won the 1st one..........Melo is a good scorer but not a good teammate........he's been something like 28 for his last 85 or something.........and look at the assists he's racking up.........overrated and the Knicks may be able to beat the Pacers but even that may be trouble!! Go Pacers:D

Eh, one game at a time. This season has been a blast so far. Melo is playing power forward and the offense is tailor made to run through him. It's really not his fault about this assist argument, if anything blame the coach. And he does swing the ball when he gets the double. I was listening the other day on the radio that Melo racks up a ton of hockey assists. It's the shot that's made the pass after Melo passes.

I disagree. Maybe Melo contributed to it, but Karl is probably the main reason those teams struggled in the playoffs.

Did you watch the Nuggets/Warriors series this year? His team did everything fundamentally wrong defensively in the game. The Nuggets kept doing basically all the wrong things that kept giving open shots to the Warriors. Andre Miller guarding Curry, going small ball against Bogut and Landry (starting Chandler at the 5), switching defensive assignments constantly, having both McGee and Koufos on the floor at the same time...

NqnwV4a.png

Chandler playing out of position at the 5 really hurt their team understanding where they needed to be. In previous instances, Karl would have McGee on Carl Landry and Miller guarding Barnes. In others, it's Miller on Klay with Iggy on Barnes. In this picture, Chandler jumps the high pick with Lawson to try and trap Curry near halfcourt, expecting help from McGee, but because McGee thinks he's still checking Landry, he doesn't even have time to look and see if Chandler's hedging on the trap, expecting him to be guarding Bogut. While this is definitely a failure of awareness by McGee to rotate over (surprise) it's very hard to give him too much blame when Karl is just throwing out these insane defensive assignments.

Edit: Also to add to the point, it was so bad that when Andre Miller was asked what happened in their series, he merely said "We got outcoached."

Edit2: Corey Brewer and Andre Miller combined to shoot 0-9 from three in game 6. They were 0-6 in game 5. 4-9 in game 4. 2-4 in game 3. 5-14 in game 2. 3-5 in game 1. Brewer is a career 30% 3 point shooter and Andre Miller is a career 21% 3 point shooter. 14-47 for the series, 29.7%.

This is absolute garbage and the only reason it happened is because George Karl was letting them shoot.

The whole "Karl & Melo and the first round exits" thing is so overblown for both people. Outside of Seattle in '94 Karl has taken his teams as far as they can go for the most part. He's never had anywhere near the top talent in the loaded West the last decade. Melo's teams in Denver never had much of a chance, they were clearly a notch below the heavyweights of the conference.

I think the Carmelo bashing is ridiculous. Melo's shoulder has clearly been bothering him (thanks to the classy move of Kevin Garnett: http://www.complex.com/sports/2013/05/kevin-garnett-tried-injuring-carmelo-anthony-gif). The Celtics are always a tough out and most people picked this series to go 5 or 6 games. It went 6, it's over, the Knicks won and were clearly the better team. Hopefully Garnett spends the offseason learning to shake hands and then retires.

The no Gallo excuse is weak, the Warriors lost Lee in Game 1 and he's a better player than Gallo, both teams were a man down. When one of your own players says you got outcoached, then thats not a good look.

Celts are done for a long time, thank you. Garnett sure is a classy guy with what he did to Melo. All this crap about the Celts talking Sox of 2004 turns out to be just stupid talk. The Knicks almost swept them, but I'm glad they did it in on the Celts home court!

The only problem with hanging Garnett as classless is you need to look at 50% of the NBA in that regard with cheap shots, smack talking etc etc..........
