Right now JC is in the infamous "damned if you do, damned if you dont" situation. If JC were to announce today that he was retiring there would be hundreds of articles written how he quit on the program when it needed him the most. If he announces today that hes staying, there will be hundreds of articles written about how he should have retired because the uncertain future is hurting the program. Thats why for Calhoun's legacy i kind of wish he just walked away after the championship last year.

I think the thing to do would be make very discreet inquiries to find out what level of exciting young coach may be interested. If it was an elite candidate, I would ask Jim to step aside for his health and remain involved as a foundation kind of guy who raises money for the school and for cancer research. I realize he's had a challenging relationship with some CT press, but he could mellow in semi-retirement and maybe soften up his image a bit.

IMO from the way he said it it doesn't seem to be too promising that Coach Calhoun will stay for much longer, and that's coming from a current player, so its a different perspective from all the speculation from reporters, bloggers and such. Take it how you wish.

Please, Roscoe had plenty of opportunities to play the three last season. What you and others conveniently ignore, is that UConn started the season with a starting lineup of Shabazz-Lamb-Roscoe-Olander-Oriakhi. They struggled, thus Daniels, Boatright, and Drummond received more playing time and kids like Scoe and Oriakhi received less. Jim Calhoun has never promised anybody attending UConn minutes. Roscoe didn't earn those minutes with his play early in the season last year. That led to an ongoing carousel at the small forward spot between Daniels, Giffey, and Roscoe. By the end of the year Roscoe had finally started to become his 2010-11 self and that's why he played so many more minutes at the end of the year.

I love Scoe, but he showed very little from an offensive standpoint at the three position last year. The minute distribution shows that the coaching staff shares my observation.

They struggled at least as much with Boatright and Drummond in the lineup and Daniels didn't get near the minutes of those two. The coach's decision led to a bad season and it is hard to see how bringing Drummond and Boatright off the bench would have had a worse result. Drummond is a talented player with a huge upside but we would have been better off without him in the starting lineup for one season.

He probably should have retired after last year. He's proud and stubborn and I know he's doing what he thinks is best, but it's not helping. And if he wanted Ollie as the "coach in waiting", he should have dumped Blaney last year and moved him up so we could get a taste.

Very disappointed with Roscoe leaving. He was probably our best returning player in many ways. Yes, he would have been a 4, but come on, does anyone think he's an NBA small forward? At some point these kids need to get a grip and understand that they are college students, not future NBA players. Spending two more years at UConn would not hurt his prospects in Europe, whatever the position.

What do you think he's talking about? He's using the words "we." As in, the future dealing with APR? The future dealing with players transferring or going pro? And, you ignored the quote from Amore where he lays it out that he has a contract and will only make an announcement if there's a change to the status quo. It means he's coming back.

A tweet vaguely suggesting that he's staying until he announces that he isn't staying is not an announcement. We need a yes or a no for at least this year, via a press conference or formal press release from the university. Drummond said the other day "coach is gone".

My guess is that he's still negotiating with Warde and Herbst. He wants Ollie and is trying to cut a deal that gets Ollie the job.

No he wasn't. The fact that you used the word clear in reference to something Calhoun said shows how wrong you are.
