Well he's not going to come without a promise and you'd be insane to make the promise - so how is he involved in this at all?

I applaud DB for not letting the KO thing drag on and making the obvious choice quickly. But other than that, I share your lack of confidence in him. He’s seemingly made no progress getting us into a P5 conference and has never been an AD. Diaco and KO were easy decisions, let’s see what he’s really capable of now.

Holy hell, no. Hathaway is, inarguably, the person most responsible for UConn not being in a power conference.

Warde wasn't great, and the jury is still out on Benedict (this hire will go a long way towards forming his legacy), but Hathaway was an unmitigated disaster. A loser all the way around.

UConn's athletic department which has a billion national championships has been so woefully managed that they have been reduced to firing the basketball coach 'for cause' in an effort to bully him into a lower buy-out.

I wouldn't trust Dave Benedict to get my car home safely from a trip to the carwash. If they somehow don't end up with Hurley - they are going to make a hire so bad you are going to bleed from your eyes.

Would love to have Danny Hurley, with Jim Calhoun taking a prominent role for the next couple years to help retain and recruit. It would also create more buzz.

How would they make that work? You’d be basically punting recruiting and if okc makes a run to the WCFs, you’re back at square 1

Donyell? No. We just fired a better former player. There are only two former players I would consider and they are both in the NBA.

I am not a big Donovan fan. His early successes were great but he wilted a little after that. Still better than what we had but I am not sure he is the best choice. Plus, I suspect he has baggage. I still think Hurley is the best option right now.

Yes. I don’t care what Calhoun thinks about Auriemma. If GENO wants it ... it’s a Brand and the Buzz we need. It’s Geno!s; Calhoun used his card on Ollie. I agree with Whaler11. Geno - if he’d put his heart into it.

Young? That’s not Dunleavy. I haven’t watched much other conference (depressing year ... you know). There’s no one in the MAAC. There are options there at the next level. Not Cooley, Donavan, Martin - all Crazy.

It’s not really a National search. It’s got to be connectivity to our legacy - NE & NYC & Coast.

Dunleavy is 35, dude. While that’s old in normal years, it’s a baby in coaching years.
 
Donovan would be on top of my Christmas wish list. But after seeing many of the other names, it's actually making me wish for Calhoun to come back; something I wouldn't have comprehended saying 24 hours ago.

If he were to come back, I would want a full medical staff on the sidelines because he's going to give himself a heart attack by the second game...
