Boat's Defense Last Kentucky Possession...

I think Ricky went back and forth between Avery (3-12) and Langdon. He also shut down Scoonie Penn (scoreless for the first 10 minutes, 3-13) in the semis.

Ricky played a different style D than Boat. Ricky was steady, hard-nosed 'this is my man, I'm going to stay in front of him and lock him down, there's no way he's getting an open look'.

Boat in the tournament was more reminiscent of a John Linehan style. Helter skelter, pressure you and get up under you, steal the ball.

We're quibbling about nothing though fellas. There's plenty of room for both Ricky and Boat at the top of our tourney defense pantheon.

Exactly why can't we just appreciate both Boat and Ricky.

That last play not withstanding, Ricky's man scored 25 in the title game and was 5-10 on threes. Boat has surpassed him.

That's not exactly true. Moore started on Avery, switched onto Langdon when he got hot, and the switched back onto him after Langdon hit a three over El-Amin early in the second half. I think Langdon scored 12 or 14 on Ricky - seven of which were in the final minute of the first half when Ricky was gassed (a three and a four-point play). There was also a baseline drive where Ricky was legitimately beat, a late three when Ricky left him to chase a rebound, and two foul shots when someone else reached in.

Wasn't Ricky guarding William Avery and then switched over to Langdon, I will have to rewatch the game.
Correct. His man was Avery. H switched to Langston for about four plays. Avery had 11 points on 3 of 12 shooting.

I think many said it all along I know I did…..this kid could be a special defender if he kept himself between the offensive guy and the basket, he 's a flee of a pest. He did that throughout the postseason constantly making the other teams PG start the offense way too far out to be of impact. He was tremendous, stifling, took A LOT less chances off the ball and on the ball in order to be a constant on his guy…….

This was very much a Ricky Moore-ish display and was right up there in mention………just awesome stuff!
